About the Role

Reporting to the National Finance Manager, the Finance Manager (VIC-QLD) will be responsible for the timely delivery of accurate financial reports relating to Hockey Victoria (HVIC) and Hockey Queensland (HQLD). This will involve working with key stakeholders, the Finance Manager will get involved in all aspects of the business, partnering with managers/executives to deliver accurate budgeting, forecasting and reporting for analysis for key decision making. The role has one direct report and will play a key role in the career development of our Graduate Accountant.

The Candidate

To be successful in this role will be a recently qualified CA/CPA. As this role will be working alongside senior managers, executives and Finance Committees you must be comfortable dealing with people and developing excellent relationships. Candidates coming from a Big 4 or audit background looking for their first leap into the sporting industry are also strongly suited and encouraged to apply.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work collaboratively with HVIC and HQLD Managers & Executives to accurately prepare, monitor and maintain budgets, forecasts, business plans and analysis within the required timelines and guidelines
  • Actioning of monthly financial account and reporting tasks, for example Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cashflow forecast, Event Reports, providing strong supporting commentary to go with the aforementioned tasks
  • Lead the preparation of all annual financial reporting obligations and accounting papers, such as year-end audits, Going Concern, Fraud Risk, NRV of Inventory, grant revenue schedules and acquittal reports
  • Oversight on accounts payable, including weekly detailed review of all payments ensuring that invoices/expense reimbursements/allowances have been entered correctly and are being paid within terms
  • Oversight on accounts receivable, including ensuring that all revenues have been invoiced in accordance with Funding Letters and other contractual arrangements and that outstanding debts are followed up or appropriately elevated
  • Prepare and process payroll and superannuation contributions for HVIC & HQLD each fortnight or as required, reviewing to ensure alignment with employment contracts, legalisation, and awards
  • Ensure relevant legislation and accounting standard changes are identified and implemented across both entities

Remuneration

Hockey Australia will offer a $90,00 - $115,000 salary package including superannuation dependent upon the successful applicant's skills and experience.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce/Business/Accounting or similar and CA/CPA Qualified
  • Experience with Xero accounting software preferred but not essential
  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills gained from previous work experience or community involvement.
  • Able to build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff members across all departments and external stakeholders
  • A keen interest in the sporting industry
