As we embark on our vision of an inspiring gymnastics experience for every Australian, we are seeking a Head of Performance and Wellbeing to lead our national wellbeing framework and integrate holistic support into the high-performance environment.
About the Role
The Head of Performance and Wellbeing plays a pivotal role in supporting GA’s elite athletes and coaches, leading the implementation of GA’s Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement (AW&E) Framework and integrating contemporary coaching and wellbeing practices into the athlete experience.
Reporting to the General Manager - High Performance and Wellbeing, this role provides holistic support to Olympic Gymsport Categorised athletes and their coaches, delivering targeted services and programs, transition support and wellbeing services across key stages of the high-performance pathway.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of GA’s Athlete Wellbeing & Engagement (AW&E) Framework, embedding best-practice programs and holistic support for categorised athletes and coaches.
- Deliver tailored case management, supporting Olympic Gymsport athletes and coaches through performance demands, transition points, injury, non-selection and retirement.
- Partner with coaches to integrate wellbeing into performance planning, daily training environments and athlete development.
- Build trust-based relationships with athletes and their support networks, ensuring care, confidentiality and respect.
- Leverage national wellbeing and referral networks to connect athletes with opportunities and support beyond sport.
About You
We are seeking a genuine and passionate professional with:
- Demonstrated background in education, social work, psychology, wellbeing, or a related field, ideally within high-performance sport.
- Proven experience in case management, wellbeing support and athlete transition pathways.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with athletes, coaches and stakeholders.
- Current understanding of issues impacting mental health and wellbeing.
- Ability to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary high-performance environment.
- Tertiary qualifications in education, psychology, social work or a related discipline (highly desirable).
