As a result of a period of sustained growth, we are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Strategy Manager to join our team and help shape the strategic direction of Rugby League.  You will lead strategic initiatives, oversee market analysis, and provide critical insights to senior leadership.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the growth and success of Rugby League in Australia through strategic planning and execution.  You will work across all aspects of the game from participation to elite football, delivering strategic projects and initiatives focused on the ongoing success of Rugby League.

We are seeking a motivated professional who’s a pragmatic problem solver, inherently analytical with the ability to synthesise analysis into recommendations and actions.

In summary, you'll:

  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that align with the NRL’s long term goals
  • Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics.
  • Develop and maintain strategic frameworks and models to support decision-making processes.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and strategic recommendations to senior management and the executive team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, analyse business performance, and drive strategic projects.
  • Evaluate and prioritise strategic opportunities, including new business ventures, partnerships, and expansion projects.
  • Provide thought leadership on industry trends, competitor activities, and potential impacts on the NRL.
  • Develop clear and compelling presentations to communicate our strategy to various internal and external stakeholders
  • Embrace change and navigate evolving landscapes.

The experience we’re looking for: 

  • 4+ years of experience in strategy consulting or a related role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • Proficient in utilising the hypothesis framework to systematically approach and solve complex problems
  • Strong commercial acumen, including qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Results-driven mindset with the ability to navigate complexity and adapt to evolving priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience preparing CEO/Board level papers.
  • Strong ability to build relationships, influence at all levels and manage diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience in sports administration and/or media industry is an advantage.
