Northern Territory Cricket Ltd is the peak sporting body for cricket in the Territory. As custodians of the sport, we work closely with Cricket Australia, the seven other State & Territory Associations and our members to serve and grow the game. About the role

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this newly created senior management role will lead the transition from volunteer-based competition management to a professional delivery model. 

The Head of Clubs and Competitions will primarily focus on leading, managing, administering and developing the Darwin and Districts Cricket Competition (DDCC) - including Senior, Womens and Junior divisions. Over time, building capability for oversight of clubs and competitions across the Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs regions. 

The Head of Clubs and Competitions will make an impact by delivering professional and exceptionally well-run competitions, offering great experiences, growing participation, and driving increased sponsorship and revenue. 

The role will determine the structure of competitions, formats and scheduling, as well as lead, influence and apply the rules, regulations and playing conditions that govern competitions. In addition, administering all financial, communications, competition management systems and disciplinary matters. 

The candidate will successfully navigate both the strategic and operational, with an appetite and desire to get their hands dirty in the day-to-day activities of the competition. No job too big or small. A 'get the job done' mentality.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Sports Administration, Sport Management, Business Management, Recreation or related field (essential)
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in sports industry, competitions and events, community sport or related field (essential)
  • Demonstrated knowledge or understanding of Australian community cricket (desirable)
  • Demonstratable experience in planning, implementing and delivering excllent competitions and/or events
  • Demonstratable experience in managing multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines, as well as deliver under pressure
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to present effectively to small and large groups
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to cultivate strong relationships and influence others
  • Showcase advanced stakeholder management skills and demonstratable understanding of the community sport and volunteer environment
  • Demonstratable skills in effective conflict management and resolution
  • Meticulous in your approach, with an exceptional eye for detail that ensures accuracy and precision in your work
  • Advanced analytical, planning and organisational skills to effectively design and deliver a diverse work program, manage resources and act ethically
  • Sound business and financial acumen, with demonstrated experience managing budgets and creating new revenue streams
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in the MS Office Suite of applications and other sport related platforms (ie.e Play HQ, Officials HQ, Power BI).
