Reporting to the General Manager - Business Operations, the responsibilities of this role are to:
Develop, implement, and lead the Brumbies communications, content and media strategy aligned to the Brumbies Strategic plan to INSPIRE AND CONNECT amongst internal and external stakeholders locally, nationally, and internationally.
Develop, produce, distribute all Brumbies social media content, internal content and media releases as required.
Advise on key strategic direction/s in relation to crisis management and media comment as needed with CEO, Management and Board.
Key Accountabilities
Communications Strategy
Working with the Head of Consumer & Marketing, develop and implement the annual Communication’s Strategy for the whole of the organisation.
Media & Content Strategy
Develop yearly media/content strategy including Brumbies Brand, Super Rugby Pacific, Super Rugby Women’s, Community engagement, Academy and Pathways plans and Community Rugby all working together under a common theme of INSPIRE AND CONNECT.
Develop ways of working (processes) for internal communication in all matters relating to the Brumbies for all stakeholders including development of a media/ digital content calendar.
Develop and implement Daily and weekly reporting on media coverage/content performance to key stakeholders.
Content Producer
In conjunction with the Head of Consumer & Marketing, develop both long- and short-term content concepts in line with the annual Communications strategy.
Develop story board concepts prior to production for approval amongst internal stakeholders.
Develop implementation/timetable schedules agreed with HPU, marketing and commercial.
Develop and maintain content distribution plans for all areas of the business.
Content Production
Create video/still and written content as required for Brumbies assets including producing/editing from raw footage/film to finished content ready for approval and distribution. This includes producing both locally and internationally as the team/s travel abroad.
Create social and video content to support:
Consumer & Marketing requirements including for membership sales, game day ticketing sales, merchandise sales etc.
Commercial/sponsorship proposals
Commercial needs including support for events, corporate hospitality, foundation program and social/video content for sponsors
Internal Staff engagement purposes
HPU filming support
Community rugby
Community engagement
Develop and maintain contacts and relationships with relevant stakeholders.
Oversee all archived video content in an orderly and cost-effective manner.
Game Day match reports and footage reporting to be distributed in a timely manner in line with media deadlines.
Prioritise, digitise and store all ‘history and archive’ content, in conjunction with Rugby AU Archive Manager and media partners -including correct tagging.
Media & Public Relations
Manage the relationship with the broadcaster at all home and away matches and other events as required, ensuring all deliverables are met as they relate to the Super Rugby Pacific Tournament Manual.
Develop communication materials (e.g. media releases, media alerts, video content including VNR) with relevant internal stakeholders in relation to proactive and reactive opportunities, with a focus on raising the profile/awareness and maximum media coverage for each portfolio.
Manage staff, players and HPU with regards to media commitments in a timely and efficient manner including written and verbal talent briefings at least 24 hours prior and feedback post interviews.
Crisis Issues Management
Proactively identify external/societal issues in relevant portfolios that could impact the Brumbies reputation or its employees and provide solutions to mitigate potential impacts in conjunction with the CEO.
Provide advice to relevant stakeholders regarding reputational impacts of potential business decisions, business issues or crises.
Other Duties
Lead and Develop the Brumbies Annual Report.
Oversee all broadcast rights and clip rights management from NEC/STAN Sports, RUGBY.com.au and John I Dent Cup live streaming.
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a media, communications and digital leadership role.
Tertiary qualification in media, communications, journalism, or production, or relevant training in the media/production industry
Sitecore CMS qualified
Outstanding relationships within the media, including broadcast and ‘news’ journalists
Outstanding camera and digital filming skills with an understanding of the news requirements specifically relating to sport.
Outstanding video editing skills and strong knowledge of digital editing software.
Proven experience producing written content for sport.
Proven experience in voicing video packages for broadcast.
Proven experience in pitching content ideas.
Ability to think strategically and proven experience in adhering to strict daily deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
Strong understanding and reporting of how media and digital channels operate, including social media and website.
