Gymnastics NSW is the peak body responsible for the management, coordination, development and promotion of gymnastics in New South Wales. Gymnastics NSW is an affiliate member of Gymnastics Australia.

About the Role:

An experienced events and operations leader with a strong understanding of the community sport environment, you will make an impact by delivering a professional and exceptionally well-run Gymnastic competitions and events, offering great experiences, growing participation, and driving increased commercial opportunities, sponsorship and revenue. You will be passionate about event management and highly ambitious. You will be joining an experienced, passionate, and close-knit team.

The candidate will be expected to successfully navigate both the strategic and operational, with an appetite and desire to get their hands dirty in the day-to-day activities of the competition. No job too big or too small. A 'get the job done' mentality.

The candidate(s) will be required to work flexibly within the role with good organizational, time management and prioritization skills, particularly around competitions and events. You will have great personal interaction and relationship building skills given the front facing interaction with partners, sponsors, corporates, clubs, athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, and fans. You will have outstanding organisational and administration skills and an understanding of internal and external stakeholder management. You will also be capable of working autonomously and competent in managing conflict situations and conflicting priorities.

Knowledge of and/or experience in delivery of competitions and sport development programs will be highly regarded. Gymnastics technical knowledge and knowledge of Gymnastics is beneficial.

Key duties include:

The Events, Pathways, and Performance Officer at Gymnastics NSW plays a pivotal role in overseeing, managing, developing and enhancing Gymnastics within New South Wales.

  • Events: Manage a portfolio of gymnastic events including the management of event budgets, liaison with event partners, coordinate a group of volunteers, collate data, develop programs, disseminate information, planning and coordination of event set up and pack down, facilitation of the creation of entry requirements and revising and updating competition rules and regulations for the events in the officers portfolio, and any other responsibilities associated with the delivery of an event.
  • Pathways: Develop, drive and implement participation and growth strategies. Manage sport development aligned with Gymnastics NSW strategies through the Gymsport Committee. Assist with Gymsport Committee administration including but not limited to operational planning, technical regulations, budgets, and meeting administration. Collaborate with clubs and committees to enhance athlete experiences, retention, and creation of sustainable growth. Maintain continuous communication with affiliated clubs, partners, coaches, judges, staff and other relevant stakeholders. Actively participate in the development of the sport through manuals, workshops, and promotional materials.
  • Performance: Implement the Gymsport Performance and Pathways Plan. Organize and manage state squad and state team activities, including selection processes, budgets, logistics, athlete welfare, uniforms, paperwork, accommodation, education and team induction. Coordinate clinics, development workshops, education programs, and state squad activities.

Overall, the position requires strong organizational skills, strategic thinking, attention to detail, financial acumen, the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders and a deep commitment to enhancing gymnastic programs, events, and pathways across New South Wales.

To be considered for this role you will have experience managing a team of volunteers, high levels of initiative and a commitment to presenting first class events.

Your communication skills will be matched by your time management skills and the capacity to negotiate the best possible outcomes for your events and sports programs portfolio. You will have the capacity to work independently and the ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously.

Location:

The position will be based in Homebush, New South Wales however will require travel within New South Wales to attend events and workshops.

Reviews: 

Gymnastics NSW will carry out performance appraisals, against mutually established performance objectives, at agreed intervals. Remuneration reviews will be carried out annually.

Hours of Work:

The nature of the position will require the Officer to work 38 hours per week generally between the hours of 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday - Fridays. The Officer will be expected to attend designated events under her/his portfolio, out of hours and weekend work will be required.
