Description

Are you passionate about gymnastics and dedicated to fostering talent? Brighton Rec is seeking an enthusiastic Gymnastics Manager to lead our dynamic gymnastics program within a recently completed state of the art gymnastics facility.

POSITION SUMMARY

  • Oversee the strategic development and implementation of our gymnastics program, ensuring it meets customer expectations and achieves participation targets.
  • Recruit, mentor, and support staff to create a thriving work environment.
  • Design and continuously enhance our gymnastics offerings, implementing best practices for safety and quality.
    Coordinate internal and external competitions, engaging with staff, parents, and the community.
  • Manage equipment assessment and risk assessments to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
    Collaborate with the broader management team on strategic planning and contribute to our centre’s business and financial goals.
  • Promote a culture of participation while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management

  • Delivery and implementation of long-term strategic objectives of the gymnastics program
  • Maximise participation by ensuring that the program is of the highest quality and aligns with customer's expectations
  • Build on initial participation targets, and develop and achieve growth participation targets 
  • In consultation with the General Manager set and achieve financial budgets for various events and programs 
  • Provide reports (including risk, incident and compliance) and program updates when needed by the centre
  • Monitor competitor programs and continue to ensure the Centre’s program offering exceeds those of our competition

Leadership 

  • Oversee the recruitment, appointment, induction, training and ongoing management of all gymnastics personnnel ensuring compliance with internal policies, awards (where applicable) and legislation
  • Cultivate and ensure a working environment that is safe, supportive, collaborative, and respectful
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and management of all coaches and support staff
  • Conduct bi-annual performance appraisals, and regularly provide feedback to staff
  • Identify and provision for relevant professional development, ensuring coaches are appropriately qualified and registered

Program Design/ Quality Control

  • Develop and implement a gymnastics program and operating model with consideration to target markets, program content, class sizes, class fees and class duration 
  • Oversee the development and delivery of the gymnastics curriculum
  • Regularly review and update the gymnastics program and the range of classes and activities available
  • Implement gymnastics best practice 
  • Ensure that Brighton Rec is compliant with the rules and regulations set by the gymnastics governing bodies, Gymnastics Australia, and Gymnastics Victoria
  • Ensure all lesson plans are safe, challenging and appropriate for the level of the gymnasts
  • Regularly review the programs and enhance and develop the program
  • Promote and foster an environment where all gymnasts are encouraged and supported  to reach their full potential
  • Organise and timetable classes for efficiency while catering to customer needs and demands
  • Manage the movement of gymnasts in the gymnasium, ensuring that all classes are allocated adequate and safe areas/equipment to run quality programs
  • Develop and oversee a Gymnastics Birthday party program including the program content,    communication material, party host position descriptions, booking process and all other elements required to ensure a successful program
  • Develop and oversee a Gymnastics holiday program including the program content, communication material, holiday program host position descriptions, booking process and all other elements required to ensure a successful program

Administration and communication

  • Implement systems and processes that make the best use of available resources and enhance operational efficiency 
  • Maintain clear, purposeful, and regular communication with staff, gymnasts and parents
  • Handle parent queries and when required resolve issues or concerns that parents may have in a professional and timely manner
  • Ensure that the Club and gymnasts are registered with Gymnastics Australia and Gymnastics Victoria
  • Ensure that the Club is widely-recognised and positively presented to the community and stakeholders, through well planned and implemented strategic communications, including digital and social media, in-person representation and public relations

Industry participation and Events

  • Coordinate the running of any internal or external competitions that the Club hosts
  • Management of all competition needs for the Club 
  • Communicate competition requirements to reception staff, coaches, parents and participants 
  • Include relevant competition schedules
  • Attend competitions and events as required
  • Celebrate competition results
  • Share competition results with the gymnastics community
  • Oversee the planning and organisation of the end of year display
  • Develop and manage all competitions and events run and attended by Brighton Rec’s gymnasts and staff

Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with the management team towards the achievement of the broader centre strategic and business plans.
  • Contribute to, and assist with the development of the Centres business and financial plans, and the ongoing compliance and monitoring of such plans
  • Support and assist other management team members in the effective functioning of their units
  • Work with other team members in a positive, respectful, responsible, honest and considerate manner
  • Collaborate with staff members from other departments in the Centre to build positive relationships and cross team opportunities

Asset Management

  • Ensure that all equipment and property is well maintained and cleaned to meet the centre’s and governing bodies safety standards
  • Propose equipment replacement and upgrades for the General Manager/Boards consideration
  • Procure equipment as required and approved
  • Procure consumables required for the gymnastics program as required and approved 
  • Monitor the cleanliness of the gymnastics hall, and address inadequate cleaning as required

Risk Management

  • Work collaboratively with the General Manager to develop and update the necessary policies and procedures to ensure compliance with expectations set by the centre and Gymnastics Australia and Gymnastics Victoria
  • Implement appropriate risk management strategies to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all staff, gymnasts, and visitors to the gymnasium
  • Ensure that all staff are aware of their rights, responsibilities and obligations in relation to Occupational, Health and Safety while at work
  • Ensure that all gymnastics equipment is well maintained and subject to spot checks and scheduled regular safety checks ensuring proper records of such assessments are maintained. 

Coaching

  • Prepare, implement and evaluate quality, safe, innovative and challenging lesson plans tailored to individual skills and aspirations
  • Prepare annual, term and weekly coaching plans as requested. 
  • Build capability to offer quality, innovative and progressive gymnastics resources for coaches to be able to plan their own classes
  • Help coaches understand how to deliver safe, quality and stimulating programs tailored to individual skills and aspirations
  • Design and implement induction program for coaches

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a management role at a Gymnastics centre 
  • Experience as a senior gymnastics coach
  • Hold and maintain a current Working with Children Check
  • Satisfactory completion of a National Police Check 
  • Hold right to work in Australia
  • First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) or willingness to attain prior to commencement
