About Sydney Uni Sport

Sydney Uni Sport is a dynamic organisation providing a wide range of sporting, recreation, and fitness services to the University and general community. This includes the management of 40 sporting clubs, several fitness and health facilities, and coordination of university and community-based sport and recreation programs.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and organised Competitions Manager to join our Marketing & Programs team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for organising, promoting, developing, and implementing a range of competitions and programs that enhance student and community participation in sports. These include Social Netball and Lunchtime Social Sport Competitions, Intramural Competition and the High Performance Basketball Program.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Social Netball Competition: Oversee the smooth operation of netball competitions, including generating draws, recruiting and rostering umpires, handling logistics, and providing excellent customer service to all teams in the competition.
  2. High-Performance Basketball Program: Develop and implement a program for nurturing talented basketball players, managing UBL teams, and collaborating with the Elite Athlete Program to provide resources and encouragement for Elite Athlete Program members.
  3. Intramural Competitions: Coordinate and manage sports events between the University of Sydney’s residential colleges and the wider community.
  4. Lunchtime Social Sport Competitions: Promote and manage weekday social sports, handling logistics, venue bookings, recruiting and rostering referees, and ensuring revenue targets are met.
  5. General Administration: Assist with budgeting, operational planning and reporting, and participate in event promotions at special events.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Sports Management or related field
  • Experience managing sport and recreation programs
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Valid driver's license

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Work Health & Safety legislation
  • Experience managing staff and contractors
  • Background in netball
  • First Aid/CPR accreditation
