Description

The Content Creator & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in driving engagement and visibility across Basketball NSW’s social media channels and website. This role involves the creation and coordination of diverse content, including news articles, match reports, interviews, and multimedia assets such as images, videos, and graphics.

During the NBL1 East and Spalding Waratah League seasons, you'll focus on developing and delivering strategic content to promote the leagues across social platforms.

To succeed, you’ll need strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects efficiently. You'll stay current with social media trends, adapt content to seize viral opportunities, and ensure all media aligns with Basketball NSW’s brand.

This role reports to the Media & Communications Manager and offers a dynamic opportunity within the elite sports sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development and Execution of Media Content, you will take the lead on media content for our senior league competitions, NBL1 East and Waratah League, focusing on day-to-day media production, especially video content.
  • Enhance our Brand Growth, Visibility, and Engagement, you will bring a fresh, energetic approach to content creation, ensuring consistency to drive brand growth, visibility, and engagement.
  • Content Creation for TikTok, Instagram, and Website, we’re proud of the growth we’ve achieved across TikTok, Instagram, and our website, and we’d love for you to help us take it further. You’ll be challenged to elevate our content by creating short, engaging visual assets that align with our style guide and overall marketing and communication strategy.
  • Managing Day-to-Day Media and Marketing Requirements, your creativity and energy are exactly what we’re looking for! However, you’ll also need to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. We’ll support you with the necessary tools and training to ensure your professional growth.
  • Event Coverage and Flexibility, like most sports, as is common in sports, many of our events take place during evenings and weekends, and some of your content will be time-sensitive. There will be occasional weekend work, but we’ll ensure your hours are balanced accordingly.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrated interest in communications, particularly social media, marketing, or communications.
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience or interest in graphic creation with strong visual skills.
  • Strong writing skills, with precise grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Experience in Communications, including conducting interviews 
  • Ability to network and build relationships at all levels.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work both independently and within a team.

HOURS:

The role is flexible and varied and we are looking for someone who can work from our Homebush office with opportunities to work from home and across weekends at BNSW events. 

Our ideal candidate can work on average 38 hours per week over a 4 week period to suit the priorities of the industry. We have a time off in lieu policy to facilitate this in busy periods. Interstate travel may be required. 

All out of pocket expenses would be covered by BNSW.

Salary and package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

The successful candidate is also required to undergo and pass a police check and hold a current and valid Working with Children’s Check.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • Full working rights in Australia. Applicants without this will not be considered.

Desirable Criteria

  • Sports Marketing / PR / Communications Degree
  • Sound knowledge of the Adobe creative suites, social media platforms/trends and Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in a social media, marketing or communications role.
  • Already an avid fan of Basketball.
