Team Purpose

AusCycling’s Sport Pillar oversees events and racing; competition rules and the State / Territory delivery network.

Position Purpose

The role is responsible for leading the planning and delivery of the Brisbane Cycling Festival (‘BCF’): Australia’s largest multi-disciple cycling festival. Working with a broad range of stakeholders, you will be responsible for project managing all aspects of the BCF, with a particular focus on commercial, stakeholder management and operational aspects, and ensuring it’s continued growth through new and innovative ideas which inspire a community of cyclist.

Further, as a member of the Events Delivery Team, you will be responsible for ensuring Mountain Bike (MTB) events within Queensland are conducted in accordance with the rules, regulations, and policies of the sport. You will manage the planning, delivery, and administration of the overall calendar of events for MTB in QLD with clubs and private promoters.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are indicative requirements of the role and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all requirements. Working under general supervision: 

  • Lead the planning and delivery of the Brisbane Cycling Festival annually, with a particular focus on innovation, collaboration and strong stakeholder management.
  • In collaboration with the Commercial Team, develop and implement a Commercial Strategy for the Brisbane Cycling Festival, including developing a value proposition and all relevant partnership collateral.  Research, identify and develop long-term commercial relationships which align with the festival's audience and support year-on-year growth. Develop and maintain relationships with key event and commercial partners.
  • Provide leadership in the development of the Brisbane Cycling Festival to ensure year-on-year targets are achieved and key Alliance (Brisbane Economic Development Agency and Tourism & Events Queensland) stakeholders continue to see value in the festivals position.
  • Be a key contributor to the communication, marketing and business development strategies, working alongside internal teams and external agencies as required.
  • Oversee operational and management planning, risk management practices and policies, and resource planning.
  • In collaboration with the State Operations Manager, manage the Brisbane Cycling Festival Budget.
  • Oversee the annual review process of the Brisbane Cycling Festival, including coordination of the presentation to the stakeholder alliance group and reporting.
  • Lead and/or support the delivery of state level events throughout Queensland in the discipline of MTB, including: managing event sanctioning, including coordination of the state / territory race calendar.  Ensure customer facing information sources including the AusCycling website and social media channels are up-to-date at all times.
  • Provide and oversee day-to day support for event delivery partners including clubs, private organisers, suppliers and race directors to ensure events are delivered to the highest possible standard.
  • Oversee the development and administration of state series.
  • Attend (where deemed applicable) and oversee the event management team at Queensland MTB Championship/Series events. Manage the delivery of required services and ensure all aspects of the event are delivered to a high standard.
  • Attend national events held in Queensland (as required) and play a role in the event management team.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures and policies for events are implemented.
  • Oversee the appointment of event and state appointed technical officials.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual events operations plan and budget.
  • Role model AusCycling organisational values, demonstrating a high standard of behaviour, including respect for, and collaboration with others at all times.
  • Adhere to, uphold and promote the principles of AusCycling policies and operating procedures.
  • Other duties as directed to support the overall success of AusCycling, in support of event planning and management as directed from time to time.

Essential Requirements

  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications highly desirable (Event Management or related field), or a commensurate level of event management experience.
