Description

The Eltham Wildcats Basketball Club(EWBC) is looking for suitably experienced and motivated candidates to take on the role of Business and Communications Officer.  The EWBC is one of the largest junior sporting clubs in Australia with approximately 5,000 active players across all streamsThe Wildcats operate under a unique structure, functioning both as an overarching Association as well as a domestic club in the largest junior domestic competition in Australia – the EDJBA. Including this position the EWBC office operates with 11 employees, 4 of which are full-time, with others ranging from 8 – 32 hours weekly. Outside of this the club has a variety of casual, honorarium and volunteer positions which contribute heavily to day-to-day operations.

The role involves being the primary co-ordinator of the majority of business and marketing functions within the club, with a key focus on sponsorship, social media and the management of apparel through the Wildcat Uniform Shop. This position includes being the direct report for the existing position of Canteen Manager, as well as all casual Uniform Shop Staff. The Business and Communications Officer reports directly to the EWBC CEO.

Tasks include but are not limited

  • Managing all elements of EWBC social media accounts
  • Monthly member newsletter co-ordination
  • Sponsorship retainment and recruitment
  • Coordination of sponsor related events
  • Uniform shop and club apparel management
  • Website updates and management
  • Grant applications
  • Office manager tasks
  • Oversight of canteen operations through Canteen Manager

The position includes a variety of tasks and requires the following skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • An understanding of the social media landscape
  • Expertise in creating content through tools such as Canva, Mailchimp and others
  • Ability to create and customise sponsorship contracts
  • Engage with the various stakeholders of the club
  • Management of Uniform Shop and apparel budget
  • Leadership/Management Experience 

Work hours:

Monday - Friday 9.30am - 5.30pm with an expectation to adjust hours around the relevant club events, including all 11 NBL1 South Home games which are typically held on weekends.
