Description

Based at Leichardt Oval, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Strength and Conditioning Coach with a deep understanding of rugby league and a strong commitment to developing youth athletes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

  1. Design and implement individualized strength and conditioning programs tailored to the needs of youth rugby league athletes.
  2. Monitor and assess athlete performance, providing feedback to optimize physical development and on-field performance.
  3. Collaborate with coaching and medical staff to ensure athlete safety and injury prevention.
  4. Conduct regular fitness testing and analysis to track progress and adjust training plans as needed.
  5. Educate athletes on proper training techniques, recovery strategies, and nutrition to support overall development.
  6. Utilise sports technology and performance data to track progress, adjust training programs, and deliver actionable insights.
  7. Align training methods with the Wests Tigers pathways model and maintain consistent communication with the coaching team.
  8. Provide ongoing mentorship and motivation to athletes, fostering a positive and competitive training environment.
  9. Prepare athletes for optimal performance on game day through tailored warm-up routines and sideline assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor' in Exercise Science OR Sports Science (Preferred)
  • ASCA Level 1 Strength Coach (Minimum)
  • Previous experience working with semi-elite or high-performance athletes, preferably in rugby league or a similar contact sport.
  • Strong understanding of the physical demands of rugby league and the ability to tailor programs accordingly.
  • Proficiency in using sports performance technology and software for monitoring and analysing player data. E.g., Teambuildr, Smartabase, Catapult, Excel etc.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends.
