About the team

The Paralympic National Personal Carers will be a part of the National Performance Support Systems team, whose role it is to create a united, collaborative world-leading Performance Support network across the HP system that enhances the impact of the Performance Team on sustainable performance outcomes.

About the role

Carers play a crucial role in enabling para-athletes to perform at their best by providing essential daily care support, and ensuring athletes can focus on their training and competitions. Their dedication helps create a stable and empowering environment, allowing para-athletes to reach their full potential. We are seeking a dedicated and visionary National Personal Care Lead to join our team. This pivotal role will connect personal care workers and carers working with para-athletes across the Australian high-performance (HP) sport system. The aim is to create a supportive community, enhance practices, and set standards of care, all while supporting our athletes and teams to achieve excellence.

About you – To be successful in this role you will possess the following capabilities;

  • Demonstrated understanding of the personal care needs of athletes and how personal care support can facilitate high-performance success.
  • Experience providing personal care support to elite athletes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills and an ability to communicate clearly.
  • Proven capability in project management.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Certification relevant to personal or disability support (preferred, not essential).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership through influence to achieve high personal and team performance and meet organisational and business objectives (preferred, not essential).
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling, and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making (preferred, not essential).

This position is offered as a Fixed Term position until 30 June 2026 with the possibility of being extended or made ongoing.
