Qualifications & experience
Formal qualifications in horticulture, turf management or a related field
Extensive experience as a turf or grounds curator, ideally in a racetrack or sporting venue setting
Strong working knowledge of turf maintenance techniques, equipment and materials
Expertise in measuring and monitoring track conditions to optimise performance and safety
Excellent project management, budgeting and team leadership skills
A passion for sports turf management and a commitment to health and safety
Tasks & responsibilities
As the Track Curator at Albany Racing Club, you will play a vital role in maintaining and managing the racetrack to the highest standard.
Oversee the daily maintenance and care of the racetrack, including mowing, watering, fertilizing and aerating the turf
Monitor and adjust track conditions to maintain optimal moisture levels, hardness and cushioning for horse and rider safety
Liaise with the Racecourse Manager and Stewards to ensure track readiness for all race meetings and training activities
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule and budget
Evaluate and test new turf products and equipment to improve track performance and efficiency
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental and regulatory standards
