ABOUT THE POSITION
Matthew Flinders Anglican College is excited to announce a new opportunity for a highly experienced and visionary Director of Rugby to lead and grow our College Rugby program to the next level. We are seeking a dynamic individual to take full ownership of the rugby program, nurturing talent and fostering a strong rugby culture within the College and broader community.
This is a Permanent Part-time (0.6 FTE) position commencing in January 2025, with the potential to increase to full-time for candidates with teaching qualifications.
As the Director of Rugby, you will have overall responsibility for both the strategic leadership and operational management of the College’s Rugby program, overseeing its development from grassroots to elite levels while assuming an active coaching role of the College’s flagship teams. You will lead a team of coaches, providing mentorship and guidance while fostering a positive and inclusive rugby environment.
In this role, you will also engage with Flinders Club Sport, the College’s wholly owned subsidiary, which offers rugby competition for the local community. Your role will be instrumental in aligning the College’s rugby program with Flinders Club Sport to ensure strong community engagement and opportunities for broader rugby participation. For candidates with teaching qualifications, there is the opportunity to take on a part-time teaching load, making this a full-time role. Terms and conditions will be negotiated with the preferred candidate.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a proven leader with experience in establishing and growing successful rugby programs, ideally within a school or youth environment. You will have a deep understanding of player development pathways, from beginner to elite levels, and a passion for creating opportunities for students to excel. Your leadership skills will be matched by your ability to manage the day-to-day operations of a large rugby program, including scheduling, logistics, and resource management.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to engage with students, parents, staff, and external stakeholders, building positive relationships and fostering collaboration. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to student wellbeing, integrating the rugby program with the College’s broader initiatives for mental and physical health. A Rugby Coaching Accreditation (Level 2 or above), along with a valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and First Aid qualifications, is required. Teaching qualifications are highly desirable but not essential.
