With flexible work hours, the PO role is the perfect job for School & University students. We have seen a large increase in hockey being played in schools through the Sporting Schools and Roadshows programs, so there are plenty of opportunities available for regular work.

Description

Participation Officers may be involved in one or more of the following programs, based on availability and experience:

Hockey Victoria’s Schools Roadshow Clinics 

• Introduce primary school-aged students to hockey, during school hours
• Provide a fun and safe environment for all students
• Engage with teachers (and any club provided coaches) and further their knowledge of hockey
• Promote the local club and Hookin2Hockey program

Hockey Victoria’s Sporting Schools Program

• Deliver a series of Hockey clinics to a class of primary school students, either during school hours or after school.
• Teach students the basic skills of hockey and engage them with fun mini-games
• Provide a fun and safe environment for all students
• Engage with teachers and further their knowledge of hockey
• Promote the local club/Hookin2Hockey program

Hockey Victoria’s Access All Abilities Programs

• Deliver Hockey clinics in Specialist Schools
• Engage with participants of all ages with a range of different abilities
• Engage with teachers, parents, and carers when working with participants
• Assist with coaching an Interschool Hockey team
• Provide a fun and safe environment for all participants

Hockey Victoria's Hookin2Hockey Centres

• Hookin2Hockey will be delivered after hours at schools in outer suburban regions   from 2023.  
• Liaise with school-teachers and Outer Suburban Growth Manager for access to school grounds 
• Deliver fun and safe hockey program to primary school-aged students. 
• Engage with parents and guardians and further their knowledge of hockey and encourage them to assist with running activities. 
• Encourage the development of U8s and U10’s teams to enter local venue-based competitions. 

Related Duties

• Assist Hockey Victoria Staff with other programs as required
• Maintain and care for all Hockey Victoria equipment and vehicles as provided.

Position Skill Requirements 

Essential:

• Developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to effectively engage with people of all abilities
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work well in a small team environment
• A current Working With Children Check (Employee)
• A current driver’s license and access to own vehicle for transport
• Minimum Foundation Lead - Coach Accreditation or willingness to recieve FREE accreditation

Desirable:

• Knowledge of the sport of hockey
• Experience coaching Hockey
• Experience working with young children
• Experience working with people who have disabilities

Remuneration

The Participation Officer will be employed on a casual basis, according to the Sporting Organisations Award, Classification Coach Grade 1 - $38.55 an hour. A workplace agreement shall be provided.

Training

All Participation Officers will receive training upon their employment.
