Reporting to the Head of Content, the Videographer will play a crucial role in capturing and producing video content tailored for social media platforms. You will work closely with the content team to create engaging videos that highlight the excitement, passion and spirit of the Parramatta Eels. This role is highly creative yet tactical and your work will range from high quality productions to spontaneous, low-fi captures using devices like iPhone or Go-Pro.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Video Production: Assist in planning, filming and editing video content tailored for various social media platforms, including and not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Website, YouTube and Tiktok. This includes short-form videos, memes, training and game hype packages, game highlights, longer form storytelling content, behind the scenes footage player features and promotional videos for commercial.
  • Collaboration with Football Department: Work closely with players, coaches and staff to capture storytelling opportunities and capture (Video/Photo/iPhone Content) exclusive behind-the-scenes content, training sessions and match day experiences.
  • Team Support: Support the content producer, creative producer, senior videographer and Head of Content in the planning, creation and development of digital video outputs.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including football, marketing, comms and partnerships to align digital content initiatives with broader organisational goals and campaigns.
  • Production: Adapt to different production environments, utilising professional video equipment for high quality productions and mobile devices for spontaneous, low-fi content. 
  • Storytelling: Uncover and drive compelling stories that highlight the Parramatta Eels, it’s players, the club’s history, values and culture across NRL, NRLW and Pathways.
  • Game Coverage: Assist with the game day coverage across video and social in collaboration with the content team with the direction set by the Head of Content and Creative and Content Producers.
  • Video Editing: Edit and post-produce videos, ensuring they align with the Parramatta Eels brand and style.
  • Technical Expertise: Stay current with industry trends, camera equipment, editing software and video production techniques to ensure the highest quality of content. Stay up to date with trends and best practices in social media and implement innovative strategies to drive audience engagement and growth.
  • Fan Engagement: Assist with the creation of content for social media that engages fans and encourages interaction with the clubs social media channels.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that all video content complies with NRL and club guidelines, sentiment guide and regulations.

The successful applicant is/has

  • Proven experience in working with and building relationships with athletes, coaches and football departments (or industry equivalent)
  • Proven experience in creating content optimised for social
  • Proven experience with delivering content at speed, in real time
  • Proven experience in sports video production with a strong portfolio showcasing past work
  • Technical expertise with proven proficiency in camera equipment, video editing software
  • Creative vision with a proven ability to generate innovative and engaging video content ideas that resonate with fans and clubs’ values
  • Passion for sport and a strong understanding of the industry
  • Adaptability with a willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and game days being able to adapt to the dynamic and fast paced sports environment
  • A demonstrated ability to engage with and develop positive relationships with a range of personalities at all levels of an organisation
  • A collaborative spirit – must be a team player who can lead a team and effectively work with other content creators, athletes, marketing and commercial team members to deliver cohesive content
  • No ego – is happy to be part of a team an operate in a team environment. Must be a team player.

What the role looks like day to day

  • Shooting video footage, media interviews, player interviews, podcast, player training, Eels events, sponsor campaigns, brand shoots and other content as needed
  • Creating training hype reels
  • Editing and post producing video content for the content team and wider business
  • Development of video content ideas and storytelling
  • Ideating with the wider content team
  • Equipment and footage management in collaboration with video and content team.

What the role looks like IN Season

  • The Parramatta Eels content team work the same schedule as the football schedule
  • All Parramatta Eels staff are required to work at home games for NRL
  • Attending games where you are responsible for producing content – this will include home games, away games, training sessions, club events.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years working in sports videography
  • Proficiency in video editing software, camera equipment and post production techniques
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Creative and storytelling abilities with an eye for capturing compelling moments
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and game days.
