THE OPPORTUNITY

The Head of AFLW Athletic Performance is responsible for the design, implementation and management of the conditioning, strength and recovery program for the Sydney Swans AFLW playing group.

This will involve:

• Designing and implementing the AFLW Strength and Conditioning Program and ensuring it aligns with the Club’s overall performance strategy. 
• Overseeing AFLW training scheduling and planning in collaboration with the coaching staff. 
• Identifying talent needs and catering specific strength and conditioning programs for each athlete’s stage of development.  
• Overseeing and coordinating AFLW rehabilitation programs, staff rostering and liaising with the AFLW Medical Team. 
• Gathering anthropometric and testing data for analysis and player reports 
• Managing and delivering programs focused on hydration, nutrition, preparation and recovery such as game day GPS and hydration. 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Tertiary qualification in Exercise & Sport Science, Human Movement or equivalent. 
• A Masters, PhD or Honours qualification is desirable
• ASCA (Level 2) and/or ESSA Accreditation (preferred). 
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role in a professional sporting environment. 
• Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
• Data analysis and visualisation capability. 
• Understanding of medical, nutrition, rehabilitation, sports psychology and skill acquisition fundamentals. 
• Working with Children Check and previous experience working with children and young people.

Due to the nature of the industry, the ideal candidate must be flexible in their availability as extended hours and weekend work will be required for this role.
