The Director of Coaching is responsible for mentoring and developing VJBL coaches within the VJBL Program. The role focuses on providing in-game and training support to these coaches to enhance their effectiveness and the overall development of players.
Roles and Responsibilities
Friday Nights - VJBL Games
Attend VJBL home games each Friday night, with a focus on Rising Stars, U12 and U14 teams.
Assist with U16 & 18 teams as planned by relevant DOC.
Mentor VJBL coaches by sitting on team benches on a rotating basis, observing game dynamics, coaching strategies, and player performance.
Provide detailed notes and constructive feedback to coaches before, during, and after games to support their ongoing development.
Sunday Mornings - VJBL Practices
Lead on-court training sessions for U12 and U14 teams during VJBL practices each Sunday morning.
Work closely with coaches to implement effective training drills and strategies that align with the “Wyndham Way” curriculum.
Provide hands-on coaching support and mentor coaches during these sessions to improve their coaching techniques and approaches.
Coaching Development
Offer continuous mentorship to Rising Stars, U12 and U14 coaches, fostering their growth and ensuring they have the tools and knowledge needed to succeed.
Develop and deliver coach education programs tailored to the needs of U12 and U14 coaches, ensuring alignment with WBA’s coaching standards and philosophies.
Assist in identifying areas for improvement and growth for each coach, providing resources and guidance to help them achieve their potential.
Player Development
Develop players to be prepared and ready for Basketball Victoria High Performance programs such as but not limited to FDP, SDP, NPP, and State Team selections.
