We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, self- motivated person who thrives on football and youth development to join our City Football Academy as a Goalkeeping Coach.

Reporting to the Senior Academy Manager, this role will give you an opportunity to shape the development of aspiring athletes by assisting in the preparation of the Academy Goalkeepers within the Youth Development Phase (YDP ) of the Melbourne City FC Academy, coaching U14-16s that compete in the Junior Boys National Premier League Victoria.

This role is a fixed term, part time offering 16 hours per week, which involves working both within and outside office hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and delivering sessions at a high level within the Melbourne City FC goalkeeper methodology framework.
  • Taking a lead in individual development plans for all goalkeepers within the YDP of the Melbourne City FC Academy.
  • Supporting Head Coaches on match days and in training sessions.
  • Taking a lead in talent identification for young goalkeepers in Victoria and Australia.
  • As required, supporting the ALM or ALW first team goalkeepers as well as the Professional Development Phase academy goalkeepers
  • Assist, where required, the goalkeeper coaches within Melbourne City FC's Football Education and Community Programs.

Skills & Experience We Are Looking For.

  • Role only offered to a minimum FFA Level 1 Goalkeeper License (or equivalent).
  • Played or coached football at an elite level in Australia or in another elite national competition (desired).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years coaching experience at junior level (desired).
  • Proven knowledge of youth goalkeeper coaching and youth football (in Victoria preferred).
  • Proven understanding of the tactical, technical and physical requirements of modern football.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Keynote with the capacity to use software for match analysis.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and empathy with young people and challenges.
  • High work commitment, enthusiastic, honest and reliable.
  • Pro-active and engaging style.
  • A winning attitude with a strong 'can do' approach.

This position is offered at immediate start for a fixed term period from commencement to 31 October 2025, where the terms will be reviewed.
