Athletics Australia (AA) is the governing body for Athletics in this country. It is a National Sporting Organisation whose major partner is the Australian Sports Commission. AA is responsible for all athletics activity, including high performance, participation, coaching, officiating, juniors, para-athletics, domestic and international competition. Athletics Australia has a critical role in leading, fostering and encouraging participation in athletics in Australia and promoting excellence in performance.

As we head towards the 2028 LA Games & 2032 Brisbane Games, it is an exciting time to join our Growth and Development team! We are currently seeking to recruit a Coaching and Officiating Project Coordinator (Fixed Term Contract - 30th June 2027).

About the Role

The Coaching and Officiating Project Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of a suite of targeted initiatives aimed at increasing the participation of women and girls in athletics coaching and officiating across Australia by actively reducing barriers to entry and providing ongoing support.

Your core duties will include:

  • Oversee the planning and successful delivery of agreed activities to support women and girls in coaching and officiating.
  • Develop and manage the project plan to ensure delivery of initiatives in line with the grant agreement between Athletics Australia and the Department of Health and Aged Care.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of education content and materials.
  • Drive awareness of targeted initiatives and programs.
  • Tend to various forms of correspondence in a timely manner, upholding high standards of customer service for coaches and officials
  • Ensuring the successful delivery and fulfilment of obligations in relation to the Play Our Way grant agreement.

What we are looking for:

A proactive project coordinator with a vision and commitment to driving participation of women and girls in coaching and officiating across athletics, who has an understanding of the challenges faced by women and girls in coaching and officiating and excels in working with stakeholders to coordinate the delivery of activities to support workforce development in sport. 

You're passionate about promoting gender equity in athletics by creating opportunities and an inclusive environment for all participnts. You have experience with building content for learning management systems, proven abililty to manage customer services inquiries in a timely manner and demonstrated experience in managing budgets. 

Ideally you will have:

  • Tertiary education in education, sports management, project management, or related fields (preferred, but not essential).
  • Proven skills in project coordination and planning, ideally in sport, with a focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of Athletics will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of coaching and officiating in community sport.
  • Experience in creating and coordinating education programs for sport volunteers.
  • Experience in managing education and professional development for a sport workforce.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by women and girls in sport participation and volunteer roles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on detail.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, managing pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA’s National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
  • Hold a current police and working with children check or the ability to obtain prior to the commencement of employment and a current driver's licence.
