Description

Following an internal restructuring, an exciting opportunity now exists for an exceptional manager to join the Jack Newton Junior Golf team. 

Working as part of the Tournament & Events Department, the Tournament Manager will take ownership of the junior golfing Calendar in NSW and the A.C.T, organizing major events from start to finish, while providing support to members of the Tournament and Events Department with other events on the calendar.

The role requires someone who is self-motivated, exceptionally well organized, a good communicator and has a positive can-do attitude. You must be able to manage multiple events at all times and be able to work well with other team members.

Knowledge of the game of golf is essential, and having some experience in Jack Newton Junior Golf or Golf NSW events would be advantageous.

In-house programs, such as Golf Tournament Software, a database, and a website content management system will all be used as part of this role. You must be highly competent with all elements of Microsoft Office and be able to quickly learn the internal software programs.

About Jack Newton Junior Golf

The Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation was established in 1986 to introduce more young people to the game of golf and to nurture their skills and enjoyment of the sport. JNJG is a non-profit organisation dependent upon the support and commitment of our sponsors. The objectives of JNJG are to establish and service a variety of golf programs for boys and girls that create pathways through the sport and cater for the beginner through to the elite.

Programs range from the Introduction of Golf in schools through to elite-level tournaments, attracting the best from interstate and overseas. JNJG has a development pathway that caters for all levels.

Jack Newton Junior Golf works closely with Golf NSW, with the two organisations signing a service agreement that began in October 2023.

The JNJG office is located within Strathfield Golf Club (52 Weeroona Road, Strathfield NSW, 2135), whilst JNJG staff are also able to work from GNSW offices located at Brighton Le Sands, Wollongong GC, or Dunheved GC on occasions. Standard office hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm, however, some out of hours and weekend work is required.

Selection criteria - Essential

  • Knowledge of the game of golf
  • Previous event management experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, and ability to learn internal programs
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads
  • Outgoing and well spoken

Selection criteria - Desirable

  • Knowledge of the structure of JNJG and Golf NSW events
  • Qualifications in Sports Administration, Office Administration, Event Management or similar
  • Experience working with and managing volunteers

  • Drivers Licence

Salary range is approximately $85-$95k (plus super).
