The Operations Manager is a key leadership role within the Keilor Basketball Association (KBA), responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational activities of the association. Reporting to the General Manager, this position ensures the smooth execution of competitions, programs, and community engagement, and works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders. The Operations Manager will lead the operational team, manage budgets, and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Management of Operational Staff
- Supervise and support the operational team, including Competition Administrators, Media Coordinator, and Programs Coordinator.
- Provide leadership, training, and performance feedback to team members.
- Ensure staff are motivated, well-informed, and able to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
- Promote a positive and productive team culture, aligning with KBA’s values and objectives.
2. General Overview of Day-to-Day Operations
- Oversee the daily activities of the association, ensuring efficient operation across competitions, events, and community programs.
- Address and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
- Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures to ensure consistency and quality of service.
- Liaise with the General Manager to ensure alignment with the association’s long-term goals and strategies.
3. Operational Budget Management
- Collaborate with the General Manager to manage operational budgets, ensuring financial sustainability.
- Monitor expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising the quality of operations.
- Present regular budget reports to the General Manager, ensuring all financial targets are met.
4. Lead Junior and Senior Competitions
- Oversee the coordination and delivery of both junior and senior basketball competitions.
- Ensure competitions are well-organised, fair, and adhere to established rules and regulations.
- Work closely with the Competition Administrators to ensure smooth scheduling, team registrations, and game day operations.
- Engage with teams, players, coaches, and officials to ensure high standards of sportsmanship and engagement.
5. Stakeholder Coordination and Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including basketball clubs, and community groups.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure effective communication and the delivery of collaborative initiatives.
- Represent the KBA at community events, meetings, and with external partners to promote the association's goals.
6. Identify and Improve Operational Processes
- Conduct regular reviews of operational processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Lead the implementation of process improvements that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
- Stay informed of industry trends, innovations, and best practices to ensure KBA remains competitive and forward-thinking.
