Description

The role will operate in a high-achieving, highly motivated, and dedicated team environment that has successfully completed over 100 open space, recreation, sport, and play projects in the past four years. Numerous additional projects are currently in development and progressing. 

It will implement Council’s Sport and Recreation Strategy and, contribute to the strategic planning of a number of organisational planning and project initiatives providing advice on community facility and recreation infrastructure requirements. 

Specifically, the role will: 

  • Ensure there is effective engagement with user groups, key agencies and the community in the planning, design and development of open space, recreation, sport and playspace infrastructure. 
  • Develop, lead, and contribute to the delivery of complex sports, recreation, open space, play, and community facility planning, policy and infrastructure projects. 
  • Lead the transition from strategy and facility development into facility operation, including the development of business and governance models. 
  • This work will lead to amazing opportunities for our residents and contribute to the liveability aspirations for the City as it continues to grow. 

Essential criteria

  • A tertiary qualification in open space planning, sport, leisure or recreation, or a related field that can be aligned to the role.  
  • Extensive experience working in a recreation, open space, sport, playspace and community facilities planning, project development and delivery, or a related field that can be aligned to the role. 
  • Proven ability to lead and contribute to project teams and the delivery of project outcomes. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to assess and develop strategies, policies, masterplans, grant applications, business cases, and benchmarks and standards. 

Desirable criteria

  • Current Class C driver licence

Commencing Salary: $112,849.00 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation.

This role is temporary full-time until February 2026.
