About the role

The Parramatta Eels are looking for an experienced Senior Content Manager to lead the development and execution of the Club’s content and social media strategy across all digital channels, in line with the Club’s business objectives.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Digital, this role will see the successful candidate lead a team of content producers, including videographers, a multimedia designer and content coordinator. The Senior Content Manager will be responsible for driving the timely and on-brand delivery of engaging digital content, while providing hands-on support to the team in the production and distribution process.

Working closely with the Football department (including coaching staff), NRL & NRLW playing group, Pathways players and admin staff from across the Club, the Senior Content Manager will be responsible for coordinating player access, internal stakeholders, resources, logistics/shoot locations, external contractors (e.g. production companies) and external talent required to deliver on the Club’s content requirements.

The ideal candidate will need to be personable and passionate, with exceptional attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, a strong background in digital background and the ability to provide practical mentorship to a team of ambitious content creators. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of content producers (social, video, editorial), providing leadership support and engaging in hands-on mentorship.
  • Develop and execute an overarching content strategy that aligns with the Club’s strategic plan and objectives.
  • Lead the ideation, production and distribution of highly engaging content across social, web and app that supports commercial outcomes and fan development, while building brand awareness and enhancing brand reputation.
  • Build and execute content plans that align with the Football schedule, commercial campaigns and partner requirements, while factoring in the seasonality of the sport.
  • Manage the delivery of an ‘always-on’ social presence that covers key Club and Football activity, including game days, training and Club events, working closely with the content producers to plan, schedule and monitor performance of social content.
  • Shoot video and take photographs on both professional and low-fi equipment (e.g. iPhone and GoPro), directly contributing to the capture of content wherever possible.
  • Edit video and stills using Adobe Creative Suite programs like Photoshop, Lightroom and Premiere Pro, directly contributing to the production of content wherever possible.
  • Maintain an up-to-date social & content calendar that is visibly internally to all stakeholders and includes an accurate overview of all planned activity, content producer availability (e.g. offsite shoots, interstate/away trips).
  • Develop and implement a community management and engagement strategy that supports positive engagement with fans on social media.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends across social media, emerging content-related technologies (e.g. monitoring and distribution platforms, social listening technology) and sports content more generally, identifying opportunities to enhance the Club’s approach to content creation.
  • Produce monthly reporting on the performance of social content, including attribution reporting for relevant off-platform sales and engagement conversions.
  • Work closely with the Partnerships team to ideate, produce, distribute and monitor performance of branded content and sponsored content integrations for commercial partners.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Digital team on the development of content for organic social to support retail & brand marketing campaigns.

 What skills will you possess?

  • Bachelor's degree or similar in Business, Marketing, Media, Communications or similar.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in content production, social media or similar.
  • Experience leading a team of content creators, including videographers, social producers and designers.
  • Proven history of developing digital content and social media strategies and managing execution across a range of digital channels, including web, app and social channels.
  • Track record of achieving significant audience growth, increased engagement and nurturing online communities.
  • Experience capturing video using low-fi devices such as iPhones and GoPro through to professional grade cameras.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in using video editing programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in editing photos using programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
  • Experience with writing and editing long-form editorial content.
  • Experience producing high production value content shoots. Hands-on experience with setting up lighting rigs, backdrops, tripods, audio etc. will be highly regarded.
  • Experience and strong understanding of stakeholder engagement and project management.
  • Previous experience working in a sports or high performance environment will be highly regarded.
  • Availability to work outside of standard working hours at Parramatta Eels matches.
