Description

The Western Football Netball League (WFNL) consists of 34 Member Cubs and over 300 teams competing in Open Age and Junior competitions. There are approximately 450 registered Umpires and Umpire Coaches in the WFNL.

The Director of Umpiring works in conjunction with the General Manager - Operations to oversee Umpire recruitment, administration and development for the WFNL. The Director of Umpiring assumes overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the WFNL Umpiring Program including policies, procedures and manuals, while managing the Umpiring budget in consultation with the General Manager - Operations.

The successful applicant is expected to assist with the delivery of training and education sessions, including rules, rule interpretation and skills for Umpires, as well as establish and maintain appropriate Umpire administration and management practices including recruitment, development and retention of Umpires within an organised Umpire group.

This is a planned permanent 0.8 FTE role with further flexibility if desired.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Coaching Accreditation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and public relation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous experience in Umpiring/officiating in Australian football or other relevant sporting environment
  • High level computer literacy skills
  • Minimum advanced Coaching Accreditation and/or participation in Umpire Coach PD Program, or willingness to obtain/be involved
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
  • National Police / Criminal History Check
