About the role
Reporting to the Senior Content Manager, the Senior Videographer will be responsible for leading the production of video content for social media, web platforms, media, game days/events and commercial partners.
As a member of the Content team, you will work closely with our content producers to create engaging video content that highlights the excitement, passion and spirit of the Parramatta Eels. This role is highly creative yet tactical and your work will range from high quality productions to spontaneous, low-fi captures using devices like iPhone or Go-Pro.
The successful applicant will be responsible for
- Video Production: Lead the planning, filming and editing of video content various channels, including social media, web, app, events/game days and occasionally broadcast. This includes short-form video (e.g. game hype packages, game highlights, retail marketing ads) longer-form storytelling video (e.g. player and coach interviews), documentary-style video (e.g. pre-season docuseries, behind-the-scenes content) and promotional videos for our commercial partners & sponsors.
- Collaboration with Football Department: Work closely with players, coaches and staff to capture storytelling opportunities and capture exclusive behind-the-scenes content, training sessions and match day experiences.
- Team Support & Mentorship: Support the content producer, creative producer, videographer and Senior Content Manager in the planning, creation and development of digital video outputs, while also playing an active, hands-on role in mentoring and helping upskill other members of the team.
- Cross Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including football, marketing, comms and partnerships to align digital content initiatives with broader organisational goals and campaigns.
- Production: Adapt to different production environments, utilising professional video, audio and lighting equipment for high quality productions, and mobile devices for spontaneous, low-fi content.
- Storytelling: Uncover and drive compelling stories that highlight the Parramatta Eels, its players, the Club’s history, values and culture across NRL, NRLW and Pathways.
- Game Coverage: Lead the delivery of game day coverage via video in collaboration with the rest of the content team, with direction from the Senior Content Manager.
- Video Editing: Edit and post-produce videos, ensuring they align with the Parramatta Eels brand and style.
- Technical Expertise: Stay current with industry trends, camera equipment, editing software and video production techniques to ensure the highest quality of content. Stay up to date with trends and best practices in social media and implement innovative strategies to drive audience engagement and growth.
- Fan Engagement: Assist with the creation of content for social media that engages fans, supports fan development & acquisition and encourages interaction with the Club’s social media channels.
- Compliance: Ensuring that all video content complies with NRL and Club guidelines, sentiment guide and regulations.
The successful applicant is/has
- Proven experience in working with and building relationships with athletes, coaches and football departments (or industry equivalent).
- Proven experience working in a fast-pace environment, with responsibility for delivering content at speed, in real time.
- Proven experience in sports video production with a strong portfolio showcasing past work.
- Technical expertise with proven proficiency in using camera, audio and lighting equipment for video production.
- Advanced video editing skills, using a software package like Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Creative vision with a proven ability to generate innovative and engaging video content ideas that resonate with fans and Clubs’ values.
- Passion for sport and a strong understanding of rugby league.
- Adaptability with a willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, after hours and game days.
- A demonstrated ability to engage with and develop positive relationships with a range of personalities at all levels of an organisation.
- A collaborative spirit - must be a team player who can lead a team and effectively work with other content creators, athletes, marketing and commercial team members to deliver cohesive content.
What the role looks like day to day
- Producing and shooting video content e.g. media interviews, player interviews, podcasts, player training, Eels events, sponsor campaigns, brand shoots and other content as needed.
- Editing and post producing video content for digital content channels and wider business.
- Development of video content ideas and storytelling concepts.
- Ideating with the wider Content team and key internal stakeholders.
- Equipment and footage management in collaboration with the rest of the Content team.
What the role looks like during the season
- The Parramatta Eels content team work the same schedule as the football schedule.
- All Parramatta Eels staff are required to work at all 12 NRL home games.
- Attending games where you are responsible for producing content - this will include all 12 home games, some away games, weekly training sessions and club events.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years working in sports videography
- Proficiency in video editing software, camera, audio and lighting equipment and post production techniques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Creative and storytelling abilities with an eye for capturing compelling moments
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and game days
