Description

The Australian Flying Disc Association Limited (AFDA) is the recognised national sporting organisation responsible for flying disc sports in Australia.

AFDA and its Member Organisations play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering various participation, pathway, and high-performance programs across Australia in an open, equal and inclusive environment for all. While not an exhaustive list, AFDA’s responsibilities cover:

  • Grassroot programs such as partnering with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Sporting Schools’ program;
  • Pathway National Events for Grass and Beach Ultimate;
  • Grass and Beach Ultimate National Events;
  • Masters National Events; and
  • Team Australia National Campaigns for juniors, seniors, and masters (across both Beach and Grass Ultimate) competing in World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) organised international events.

AFDA’s Affiliate Member, the Australian Disc Golf Association (ADG), currently takes primary responsibility for Disc Golf programs (from grass roots to elite level) with AFDA’s support.

ADFA is committed to protecting children and young people from harm.  AFDA’s policies and procedures seek to address risks to child safety and establish child safe cultures and practices. AFDA requires all applicants that will work with children (or have access to personal details of children) to undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment,

Key Job Purpose

Support, coordinate, and deliver effective and sustainable grassroot participation programs within the flying disc landscape, especially as it pertains to:

  • Sporting Schools
  • Ulti-Play Play Anywhere - Play Ultimate Program

Support and coordinate participation development programs and initiatives as it relates to:

  • Coach development
  • Officials Development
  • Member Organisation and Club Development

Increase participation and registered player numbers in organised local, state, and national competitions.

Reports to: Coordinator (Growth, Pathways, and Communications) & Senior Member of Staff

Location: The AFDA Office (Melbourne, Australia), and/or work from home within Australia.

Classification: Sporting Organisations Award 2020, Clerical and administrative - Grade 6

Employment Status: Full-time

Key Result Areas / Duties and Responsibilities

Participation Growth

  • Support the Sporting Schools program delivery to further ensure profitability, sustainability, and an increase in registered participants.
  • Support the Ulti?Play program delivery to further ensure profitability, sustainability, and an increase in registered participants
  • In collaboration with State members, lead the identification, development and delivery of growth initiatives to increase the number of registered participants especially in the areas of club and league registrations
  • Establish and grow the sport’s participation plan and pathway programs. 
  • Develop growth initiatives and resources

Member Services and Development

  • Coordinate and deliver the development and promotion of coach and officiating education curricula and systems which increase the quality and quantity of Ultimate coaches and officials.
  • Coordinate and deliver member services development initiatives to further increase the knowledge and education within club and member organisation development.
  • Facilitate the transition to the AFDA’s new competition management system and CRM. Provide support to clubs, leagues, states, and other stakeholders.

Other

  • Provide administrative support to, and work with, assigned AFDA Subcommittee(s)
  • Other reasonable tasks and duties, as assigned from time to time

Integrity

  • Comply with National Integrity Framework policies and codes, including maintaining an up to date working with children check at all times and providing a national police check evidencing no disclosable court outcomes as a precondition to employment
  • Must behave ethically and be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and young people.

Availability: Be prepared to work evenings and weekends if required and travel to meetings and events

Workplace Health and Safety/Risk Management

  • Hold a current car driver licence
  • Comply with AFDA policies

Essential Requirements

  • National Police / Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
