Athletics Australia (AA) is the governing body for Athletics in this country. It is a National Sporting Organisation whose major partner is the Australian Sports Commission. AA is responsible for all athletics activity, including high performance, participation, coaching, officiating, juniors, para-athletics, domestic and international competition. Athletics Australia has a critical role in leading, fostering and encouraging participation in athletics in Australia and promoting excellence in performance.
Heading towards the 2032 Brisbane Olympics & Paralympics, it is an exciting time to join our High Performance (HP) Team, we are currently seeking to recruit a Para Performance Coaching Manager.
About the Role
The Para Performance Coaching Manager, is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing the Para Performance Coaches. Through leadership and stakeholder management, be involved in the Para Resurgence Action Plan and instigate and refine the world’s best Para Athletics Coaching program.
Your core duties will include:
- Manage the AA HP system employed coaches working predominantly with Para Athletes.
- Support the Para Program Manager and Para program to broaden the elite Para athlete cohort.
- Work closely with the AIS Performance Coaching program to further enhance the development of Para Athletics performance coaches.
- Work with the Para Program Manager and the various areas of High Performance on a project basis to ensure the development of Para coaches, and a coach's lens in applied to all operations.
- Drive a positive culture focused on collaboration, learing and success within the Para performance coaching network.
What we are looking for:
You have an innate ability to lead, with knowledge of Para Athletics coaching in the international environment through your previous success as an international level coach. As a strong communicator you will have the ability to build and foster partnerships and have passion for continuous learning and building partnerships that will support performance.
You are passionate about Para sport and understan the nuances of Para coaching, to help establish a successful, systematic Para Athletics coaching program.
Ideally you will have:
- Experience and success in international Para Athletics Coaching environment and an understanding of what it takes to be internationally successful (medal levels) as an international Para Athletics coach.
- Skillfull relationship management across a diverse group of individuals and stakeholder groups, with particular experience with Para athletes.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Para Athletics classification system and the necessary skill-sets to coach athletes across the classificiation system.
- Ability to operate with intergrity and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA's National Integrity Framework suite of policies including the Australian National Anti-doping Policy, Safeguarding Children and Young Persons Policy, and Code of Conduct.
- Hold and maintain a valid Working with Children Check and (or ability to hold) Police Check.
