Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Junior Development Swim Coach to guide and inspire our developing swimmers, helping them lay a strong foundation for future competitive success. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of swimmer development, proven coaching experience, and a passion for fostering young talent.
The Role:
This position involves working closely with South East Swimming Club’s junior squads to design and implement effective development programs that prepare swimmers for competitive pathways. The role also includes collaboration with the broader coaching team to ensure a seamless progression for athletes within the club.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver a structured training program tailored to junior swimmers, focusing on technique, endurance, and skill acquisition.
Provide technical instruction and constructive feedback to ensure swimmers build strong foundational skills.
Set achievable goals for swimmers and monitor their progress, maintaining detailed training records.
Support swimmers in transitioning to higher performance squads as they progress.
Collaborate with the Head Coach and assistant coaches to maintain a cohesive coaching philosophy across the club.
Prepare junior swimmers for local and state-level competitions, ensuring readiness and confidence.
Cultivate a supportive and inclusive training environment that promotes discipline, teamwork, and a growth mindset.
Engage with parents and the club community to provide updates and foster positive relationships.
Qualifications:
Proven experience coaching junior swimmers, preferably within a competitive program.
Competitive or equivalent recognised coaching certification.
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate coaching techniques and swimmer progression pathways.
Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
A passion for inspiring and nurturing young athletes in a supportive environment.
Current First Aid, CPR, and Working with Children certifications.
