ABOUT THE ROLE
To provide leadership and direction within the Australian Elite refereeing ecosystem, creating and encouraging a strong culture of respect for match officials, and enhancing the global reputation of Australian match officials through strong domestic pathways and development structures across Australian football, in line with Principle VI.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Referees with the development and implementation of an elite refereeing strategic plan
- Manage all budgetary matters, including the preparation and implementation of the departmental budget and the ProRef budget for the Australian Professional Leagues
- In conjunction with the Legal department, create, implement, maintain, and enforce policies and procedures relating to the department and match officials across national panels and general Australian refereeing
- Manage special projects related to refereeing, including but not limited to Video Assistant Referee (VAR), and the implementation of trials approved by IFAB and/or FIFA (e.g. use of “concussion substitutes”)
- Management and contracting of national competition match official panels
- In consultation with the Head of Referees, manage the appointment process of match officials
- Assist the Head of Referees in providing recommendations to the Referees Committee at the conclusion of each season for the removal and promotion of match officials to the national panels
- Assist the Head of Referees in making recommendations to the Referees Committee for nominations to the FIFA International Refereeing Lists
- Maintain appropriate data in relation to the evaluation processes of national panels
- Manage the appointment of referees and referee coaches to national championships and other tournaments as required
- Maintain and improve international relations with FIFA, AFC and other MAs and Leagues

ABOUT YOU
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Maintain strong operational relationships with FIFA & AFC enhancing Australia’s reputation and global standing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with other Member Associations and Leagues for the purpose of shared knowledge and experiences
- Successful delivery of VAR within national competitions utilising the system
- Constant review of all refereeing related policies to ensure relevance and best practice

Additional Requirements:
- Full working rights in Australia
- Working with children check (paid/employee) or state-based equivalent
- International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
- Out of hours and weekend work as required
