About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator will be responsible for creating a welcoming and inclusive social environment across all levels of hockey through the development of processes, initiatives, and partnerships to promote social inclusion, equity, and diversity within hockey in Australia.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the implementation, and monitoring of HA’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), including chairing the RAP Advisory and Working Groups.
  • Coordinate education and resources through external providers to be delivered to MAs, including assisting with the creation of content to educate the hockey community to address barriers within priority communities.
  • In collaboration with the Growth Department, identify opportunities to expand Hockey Australia’s support of existing hockey programs, importantly promoting and increasing participation opportunities for all abilities groups, older Australians, and culturally diverse communities.
  • In collaboration with the Partnerships team, service partnership deliverables aligned to priority communities.
  • Manage the relationship with Pride in Sport to support the LGBTQ community, including developing initiatives to promote and increase participation in hockey by the LGTBQ community.
  • Provide high quality advice, education and support to HA Staff, MAs and grassroot communities on diversity, equity, and inclusion matters.

Remuneration

Hockey Australia will offer $62,000 - $68,000 salary plus superannuation dependent upon the successful applicant's skills and experience.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role at a NSO and/or SSO/sports Association/club level
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Development or relevant discipline are desirable.
  • Knowledge of and experience in working with people with disability in sport is desirable.
  • A good understanding of barriers to participation by priority groups (e.g. First Nations peoples, LGBTQ+, CALD, Women and Girls)
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills gained from previous work experience or community involvement.
  • Ability to solve problems, resolve conflict, offer constructive solutions, and make decisions.
