NSWCIS aims to advance and support the holistic education of all students attending independent schools by providing the framework through which those students are able to pursue a representative pathway to State and National sporting competition. We currently operate with a small, collaborative team of 5, headed by our Executive Officer Chris Ohlback. Being a small organisation, team-work, cooperation and efficiency are key factors in the success of our events and our ability to meet objectives.
About the Role
The Sports Event & Content Coordinator role is a new, full-time entry level position.
The nature of the role will involve working as part of a small team, assisting with all aspects of sports event organisation, attendance at CIS Trials and Championships, and developing and implementing marketing content including social media enabling CIS to engage more effectively with stakeholders.
This role will require innovation along with effective and efficient event coordination skills to ensure the highest standard of professionalism is provided to our affiliated Member Schools.
Sports Event Administration
This role will require you to assist in the preparation and administration of a range of CIS sports programs and associated events to deliver opportunities and exceptional experiences for Students and Staff within the Independent Schools sector.
In addition you will attend a variety of sports Trials and Championships, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure the policies and values of the organisation are upheld. You will have many opportunities to network with other sports professionals, teachers, parents and schools.
Key Responsibilities:
Work across a range of CIS Primary and Secondary Schools Sports Programs and provide administrative support to Senior CIS Staff / Management.
Sport Event tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Attend a range of CIS sporting events including all major events - Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country.
- Work with Sports Convenors, Sub-Committees and Team Officials to ensure the sporting program is delivered in a professional manner.
- Assist Sport Convenors with set up, pack down and player registrations.
- Networks with sports professionals to enhance CIS sport program delivery.
Administration tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensure Trial Lists & Championship Programs are available for all Events.
- Ensure CIS Teams Lists are displayed on the website in a timely manner.
- Ensure selected student and staff uniform orders are submitted on time.
- Update the Sports Event Pages and Calendar on the NSWCIS website as requested by Senior CIS Staff / Management to ensure that the information is accurate.
- Assist in booking venues for CIS Trials and Championships.
- Liaise with appointed First Aid provider in the lead-up to Trials and Championships to ensure coverage has been confirmed for the respective Event.
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of the Annual Awards Evening and any other coordinated events outside of CIS Sport Trials and Championships.
Content Creator
Be responsible for planning, developing and implementing engaging content across various marketing and social media platforms to enhance our brand presence and engage our audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, create, and manage quality content for social media (such as Facebook, Instagram & X), website, marketing material and other platforms to align with CIS sporting events.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of our social media accounts and engage with followers to respond to comments and messages and manage online community interactions.
- Generate reports to measure the effectiveness of content and campaigns.
- Plan and execute a social media calendar to increase our brand presence and engage our audience.
Desired Skills / Experience for the Sports Event & Content Coordinator Position
- Sports Administration Qualification.
- Experience coordinating sporting events.
- Ability to communicate and work with a diverse range of people to ensure events run smoothly.
- Competent working with Microsoft 365. Experience working with a Data Management System, Adobe & Canva would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Experience in social media content creation for businesses.
- Ability to travel as and when required (own car required)
