The MGGS Rowing Program is founded on our School core values of Integrity, Compassion, Courage, and Self-discipline. Since its inception in 1985, the MGGS Rowing Program has grown from humble beginnings to become one of Australia’s top school rowing programs. Our rowers have won five Senior National Championships (2011, 2012, 2013, 2021, 2023) and twice triumphed at the Head of the School Girls Regatta (2011, 2012). In 2022, our 1st VIII crew proudly represented MGGS on the international stage at the Henley Royal Regatta in the UK. Continuing this legacy, our 1st VIII returned to Henley in 2023, further showcasing our dedication to excellence.
Our program stands out for its commitment to developing athletes who succeed beyond school. Many MGGS rowers have earned scholarships to leading US colleges, with several currently pursuing their academic and athletic careers in the US. Over the past decade, our students and staff have consistently achieved national and state-level representation, highlighting the program’s dedication to excellence and growth.
We’re seeking a Senior Rowing Coordinator who values our strong foundation and is committed to supporting our skilled coaches and all rowers from Year 11+12 in the Senior program. Your role will be to facilitate and empower the Senior coaches, fostering a collaborative environment that builds on our established success. This role requires flexibility, as hours vary depending on the season, including work outside typical 9-5 hours and on weekends.
The Senior Coordinator will be required to attend all Senior training, camps and regattas through Terms 3, 4 and 1 (including non-term time as required) as well as assist with daily administrative and logistical requirements through all 4 terms. The Senior Coordinator will also assist in the running of a GSV sport during Term 2. The Senior Coordinator will not directly coach a crew, but will be responsible for the management and oversight of all Senior crews.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Oversee Senior Rowing Operations: Coordinate all aspects of Senior operations, including competition schedules, training camps, and interstate regattas, ensuring seamless execution and high standards.
- Safety and Risk Management: Implement and uphold health and safety protocols across all rowing activities. This includes assisting the Head of Rowing and Head Coach ensuring a secure environment for students, staff, and coaches.
- Mentor and Meet with Students: Provide consistent guidance, support, and mentorship to Senior rowers, meeting regularly to maintain positive skill and physical development, assess progress and encourage their development both on and off the water whilst fostering a positive training culture and fun environment.
- Presence and engagement: Attend all Senior athletic development and water sessions (including camps and regattas), and potentially some Junior and Intermediate sessions from time-to-time as directed by the Head of Rowing to assist with the streamlined implementation of the MGGS Model.
- Leadership of coaches: Ensure all Senior staff are coaching in line with the MGGS Model of Rowing and to a high quality. Apply a professional and supportive approach to ensure coaches continue to develop their relevant skill set at all training sessions, camps and regattas. This includes language/terminology used, technical movement taught, adherence to school policy and procedure, boat and equipment maintenance;
- Communication: The Senior Coordinator will demonstrate a high level of negotiation skills with key stakeholders, supervisory experience, conflict resolution skills, excellent organisational abilities and a high level of written and oral communication skills.

- Require certificates and licenses;
- Level 2 Coaching Accreditation (Rowing)
- Full Provide First Aid certification (HLTAID011)
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Current Victorian Boat Licence, or be willing to obtain
- Current Victorian Working With Children’s Check, or be willing to obtain.
