What You'll Do
As Media & PR Manager, you'll drive the WNBL's media strategy and public profile during an exciting new era for the league. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the NBL Chief Content & Media Officer, you'll develop compelling communications, build strong media relationships, and create engaging content that showcases our players, teams, and league initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Media Strategy & Relations
- Lead the WNBL's media strategy and drive year-on-year growth in coverage
- Build and maintain relationships with key media stakeholders
- Manage league communications and media inquiries
- Lead crisis communications and issues management
Content & Communications
- Create and distribute engaging media content across multiple platforms
- Manage live event coverage, including press conferences and interviews
- Develop strategic communications for major events and milestones
- Oversee social media strategy and digital engagement
Stakeholder Management
- Support clubs with media relations training and resources
- Facilitate player media opportunities and story development
- Work with executives to align communications with league messaging
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver integrated campaigns
What You Bring
We're looking for someone with:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in media relations, preferably in sports or entertainment
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of the sports media landscape
- Experience managing multiple projects under pressure
- Content creation and social media expertise
- Understanding of Australian basketball highly regarded
- Passion for women's sport and gender equity
