About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Shared Services Management Accountant will be responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of the financial activities related to the Sport of Hockey, across Hockey Australia and Shared Services. The Shared Services Management Accountant responsibilities will also include completing the monthly accounting and reporting financial operations of allocated Shared Service ledgers including budgets and forecasts, monthly internal and external reporting, internal control structures, compliance activities and project analysis to assist in key commercial decision making.
Key Accountabilities
- Work collaboratively with Managers & Executives and Committee members to accurately prepare, monitor and maintain budgets, forecasts, business plans and analysis within the required timelines and guidelines
- Partner with Managers & Executive to educate & empower them to have greater financial understanding of their department and the business
- Preparation and posting of all required journal entries
- Preparation of monthly financial reporting for Shared Services including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cashflow forecast and strong supporting commentary
- Accurate and timely calculation of payroll and BAS compliance obligations for Shared Services including IAS, Payroll Tax, Workcover and the annual FBT Returns
- Prepare Event Reports on key projects, programs, and tours, including commentary on variances to budget
- Oversight on accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring that all revenues have been invoiced in accordance with the SIA, Grant Funding Letters and other contractual arrangements
- Oversight and management of end-to-end payroll function that includes fortnightly permanent and casual payroll and superannuation
- Draft a sustainability focused framework for the Sport to facilitate sustainability financial reporting in line with guidelines and future accounting standards

Remuneration
Hockey Australia will offer a $65,000 - $75,000 salary plus superannuation dependent upon the successful applicant's skills and experience.
Experience, Skills and Attributes
- Degree Qualified - Commerce, Business or Accounting
- CA/CPA qualification
- 2+ years’ experience in sport, with preference to State or National Sporting Organisation
- Knowledge and experience with Xero, Approval Max, CALXA software
- Knowledge and experience of payroll and understanding of Sport Organisation Award
- In depth technical knowledge of (and ability to source) Australian Accounting Standards, Corporations Act regulations and FBT/GST/WorkSafe
- Understanding of Climate Sustainability reporting requirements
- Extensive use of Microsoft Office and in particular hold intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills
