The Community and City Services Division puts people, families and community at the forefront of our work. It strives to ensure that Melbourne is a city for all, one that is liveable, healthy and vibrant and meets the needs of a diverse and growing population. 

The Recreation and Waterways Branch exists to provide inclusive places, facilities, services and programs that connect our communities and support them to lead a healthier, more active life. 

The purpose of the Community Sport and Recreation Officer position is to support the delivery of community sport and recreation services in City of Melbourne. This role will deliver a high quality customer experience to community sport and recreation stakeholders. 

Key functions include undertaking the administration, stakeholder management and communication tasks required to ensure the successful delivery of community sport and recreation services for annual and seasonal permits and licences. The role operates with some autonomy with a high level of interaction with external stakeholders

All CoM employees will demonstrate an ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.

  • Experience working in, or with diverse communities, people, organisations and partners. 
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline such as health and fitness, leisure, recreation, project management or business or a similar field and/or significant experience and proven achievement in working with a variety of stakeholders. 
  • Strong influencing and verbal communication skills including proven ability to drive positive outcomes. 
  • High level analytical and conceptual skills and demonstrated experience in solving complex problems within short time frames. 
  • Highly developed written communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to prepare high standard written correspondence, reports and submissions. 
  • Well-developed project management and service planning skills, particularly in a recreation environment. 
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office Word and Excel. 
  • Time management skills. 
  • Customer service skills.
