NETBALL NSW OVERVIEW 

Netball NSW is a not-for-profit organisation, governed by a Board of Directors and managed by professional staff. Netball NSW is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout New South Wales and is a member organisation of Netball Australia. 

Netball NSW provides the framework for approximately 115,000 registered members and over 150,000 total participants to enjoy netball at all levels throughout New South Wales. Our sport continues to grow both on and off the court and much of this success can be attributed to the wide range of programs, facilities and services Netball NSW offers to its members and participants - from the grassroots level through to the elite, professional level.

Netball NSW has a proud history of elite netball teams and athletes’ performances in national and international competition. Over 300 athletes have proudly represented NSW in elite competition since the inception of the national netball league in 1997 and then the ANZ Championship.  2017 saw the introduction of the Suncorp Super Netball, the top Australian domestic competition which includes two NSW elite teams, the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To ensure that Netball Central is maintained in a clean, hygienic and tidy condition to support the professional delivery of all training bookings, competitions and events.

Reporting to: General Manager - Venue Operations

Direct Reports: Venue casual and contract cleaning staff

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administration Tasks

  • Manage the in-house cleaning function and waste management contract.
  • Work with the GM - Venue operations on the maintenance schedule works and associated contract to help drive efficiencies.
  • In consultation with the GM - Venue Operations, identify the number of cleaning staff required to maintain a clean environment within the set annual budget, and interview, recruit and roster sufficient cleaning staff to cover the weekly budgeted cleaning hours
  • To have the overall responsibility for the practical organisation of the day-to-day cleaning operation.
  • Monitor stocks of cleaning equipment and materials and placing orders on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of casual/contract cleaning staff, and maintain attendance and timesheets for submission to the GM -Venue Operations on a fortnightly basis.
  • Investigate and maintain a working knowledge of developments in cleaning equipment and materials and to identify means by which the cleaning operation might be developed.
  • Assist with Motor Vehicle fleet management including quarterly vehicle maintenance checks and reporting.
  • Assist staff with vehicle servicing and works where/when required.
  • Any other duties as requested by the GM - Venue Operations.

Venue and Event Operations

  • To maintain a flexible daily cleaning schedule of all internal areas of the venue and ensure that identified key areas of the venue receive priority in the schedule
  • Undertake any additional cleaning duties as directed, by the GM - Venue Operations.
  • Develop and carry out induction procedures with all new staff.
  • Ensure that the GM - Venue Operations is notified of any building and furniture defects 
  • Minor repair works to sports equipment and furniture as required.
  • General-hand duties on occasion as prescribed by the GM - Venue Operations. This can include setting up and packing down equipment and covering for Office & Venue Service Coordinator as required.
  • Assist with building and office maintenance projects.

Reporting

  • Perform monthly WHS Audit Checklist and submit to GM - Venue Operations.
  • Ensure daily venue opening and closing checklists are completed and emailed to relevant parties.
  • Weekly cleaning/maintenance checklist and walkaround with GM - Venue Operations.
  • Check on a daily basis that all areas of the venue are cleaned to a satisfactory standard and daily cleaning logs are completed for each work section.
  • Produce on a weekly basis, official order forms for equipment, stock and materials for approval by the GM - Venue Operations.
  • Ensure that all Work Health & Safety procedures are followed, in accordance with Netball NSW WHS Handbook
  • Ensure that Material Safety Data Sheets are adhered to and available for all chemicals

Communication

  • Liaise regularly with the GM - Venue Operations and review the weekly bookings schedule to identify specific bookings, competitions and events requirements.

Relationships

Build and maintain a range of internal and external professional relationships including:

  • Netball NSW Executive and Management teams
  • Other Netball NSW Staff. 
  • High Performance teams and support staff
  • External venue hirers
  • Tenants
  • Contractors & tradespeople
  • Guests

General

  • Abide by, promote and actively enforce Netball NSW policies. 
  • Able to work flexible hours to ensure that services are delivered efficiently, on time and in the best interests of the venue. Being available to work evenings and weekends is an essential requirement of the position. 
  • Work both independently and as a team and have the ability to solve problems and apply customer service skills and experience.
  • Emergency Evacuation - Area Warden Duties. 
  • Any other duties as requested by the Line Manager.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Candidates for the position will require a range of personal and professional skills including:

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Previous venue cleaning experience or equivalent experience (three years minimum experience). 
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk and WH&S in all aspects of venue operations. 
  • An understanding of and an ability to implement basic personnel policies and practices (Equal Opportunity practices and WH&S etc). 
  • Practical experience and / or knowledge in industrial cleaning procedures.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and materials used.
  • Chemical handling experience
  • Demonstrated experience within a customer service environment.
  • Experience working within a multi-use venue
  • Current drivers license

Knowledge and skills

  • Proven ability to effectively plan and prioritise work and manage time effectively.
  • Good working knowledge of WHS requirements.
  • Safe and competent operation of plant (motorised floor scrubbing machine)
  • Estimating quantities and ordering of materials and supplies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively where appropriate with clients, members of the public and other employees.
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and prioritise work and manage time effectively.
  • Manual handling experience. 
  • Ability to multi-task and focus on several issues simultaneously.
  • Motivated and proactive with an ability to use initiative to solve problems.
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a challenging work environment.
  • Ability to work with people across all levels of the sport, including Netball NSW staff, in a collaborative manner

Working With Children Check (WWCC)
