About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Financial Controller has overall responsibility for the Financial Management, People and Culture and ICT functions of Baseball Australia and the Australian Baseball League.
Key Accountabilities
- Planning: Overseeing the annual budget process, long-term financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Reporting: Preparing monthly management accounts and bi-monthly Board reports, including all month-end processes.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to the Corporations Act, Australian Accounting Standards, and tax regulations (GST, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT).
- Processes: Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, banking, and asset management.
- Audit & Annual Financial Statements: Coordinating external audits and preparing consolidated annual financial statements.
- Leadership: Mentoring and managing a small team to achieve organisational objectives.

Remuneration

Experience and Competencies
Qualifications
- Full membership of CAANZ or CPA Australia (essential).
- Current Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check or the ability to gain this.
Knowledge & Experience
- Accounting Experience: At least 10 years in accounting, with proven success in a financial leadership role. Experience in both public practice and the not-for-profit sector is highly desirable.
- Software Proficiency: High-level expertise in Xero or similar cloud-based accounting systems.
- Technical Skills: Strong applied knowledge of the Corporations Act, Australian Accounting Standards, and tax regulations.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor a small team effectively.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Experience in providing strategic financial advice and support to colleagues.
- Audit & Compliance: Expertise in preparing annual financial statements, coordinating audits, and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
- Additional Skills: Experience in HR and ICT is desirable but not essential.
Working with Children
