The Position
The Pathways & Competitions Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of state and national pathway programs from grassroots to the elite level. This role requires strong operational skills to plan and deliver key initiatives across the pathway’s strategy working closely with athletes, coaches and staff within state programs. Further, this role will be responsible for delivering the competition elements of national events in line with event and pathway requirements and priorities.
The individual will have advanced skills to foster positive and functional relationships across a number of stakeholders and have experience in developing grant applications and financial outcomes in small scale programs.
Key Responsibilities
Pathway Operations
- Planning and delivering national development & emerging talent camps
- Supporting the Woman’s participation and pathway program/teams.
- Managing the planning and logistics of junior competitions at National Championships
- Organising air travel and accommodation logistics for athletes, coaches and staff at domestic competitions.
- Works with athletes and state programs to fulfill program equipment needs.
- Managing database with information of athletes, coaches and staff.
- Supporting State Managers with program operations i.e venues, officials, scores, equipment etc
- Managing, distributing and recording inventory for development & state teams (i.e. team uniforms, equipment, program collateral)
- Supporting State programs to identify and deliver local/state grants to provide financial sustainability
Competition Operations
- Supports the delivery and operations of National League & Championships.
- Leads competition and sport operations across WRA’s suite of pathway events.
- Works with GM – Pathways & Talent and CEO to develop team lists for events.
- Leads the development of rules and regulations at a local level with State Managers.
- Providing support to Team Managers at events.
- Working with Operations Executive to ensure smooth coordination of all event elements.
General
- Support and assist Wheelchair Rugby Australia where required at nationally sanctioned events (tasks extending current role i.e. helping load equipment, signage where applicable etc)
- General administration tasks as pertaining to the role.
- Any other duties within the employee’s capabilities which is fair and reasonable to expect the employees to undertake as directed by the GM Pathways & Talent.
- Ability to travel and work on weekends as required.
- Ensure compliance with WRA’s policies, guidelines and procedures.

Essential
- Demonstrated high-level understanding of operational abilities to develop leading pathways and programs that deliver positive outcomes.
- Ability to work in a team environment and at times autonomously with competence, integrity and efficiency.
- Knowledge, understanding and interest in the Australian sports industry in order to be able to communicate in both written and verbal means effectively
- Ability to network and develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong written and oral communication skills supported by interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer and IT skills including knowledge of database management and Office functions.
- Must be available for weekend and weeknight work when required.
- Working with Children Check
- Must be an Australia Citizen / Permanent Resident or already have the appropriate working rights with Australia to be considered for this position.
