About the role

The National Development Head Coach - Melbourne leads our Talent Development tennis programs in Victoria fostering successful communications and relationships with staff, athletes, parents and key stakeholders. They will positively impact athlete and coach development through communication, education, integration and support. Essential to the role is overseeing all Talent programs, identifying and developing young athletes with continued collaboration with their private coach, to produce our next National, ITF, and junior Grand Slam competitors and champions, as they progress towards being top 100 ATP/WTA players representing Australia.

  • Deliver a world class tennis program at the National Development Program level and to individual athletes.
  • Lead the development on court and off for selected athletes in the NDP to ensure all aspects of athlete's development are met in accordance with set guidelines.
  • Ensure a holistic approach to athlete development, empowering athletes to perform at their best.
  • Oversee the management of Talent Programs in Victoria, and have a presence within the program amongst staff, athletes, parents, and contract coaches.
  • Working with the Manager - Tours and Camps assist with, and lead, groups of athletes on overseas tours at tournaments and events.
  • Managing key stakeholders to ensure best practices and smooth transition of players into National Tennis Academy.

About you

What you will bring to the role:

  • High Performance coaching qualifications or willingness/ability to attain (essential).
  • First Aid certificate or willingness to attain (essential).
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Performance tennis coaching with a proven ability to develop and implement a high-performance tennis program and environment for developmental and elite tennis athletes.
  • Extensive experience and repeated success leading the development of players to success at National and ITF level, and/or previous experience at the College, ATP/WTA level.
  • Demonstrated ability in identifying talented athletes and coaches, and the ability to build professional relationships with Talent Development coaches, and parents of players.
  • Past playing experience at the elite international level (highly desirable).
  • Ability and willingness to travel Internationally and Nationally as required.
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
