As we shift focus toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, High Performance Sport NZ is seeking to recruit a Senior Performance and Technique Analyst (PTA) to join our team.
This role includes both service delivery and leadership responsibilities. Delivering best practice support services to athletes within the Rowing New Zealand high performance program is the main emphasis of this role. The successful applicant will also provide leadership support (people management, operational leadership) to a small group of PTA providers (HPSNZ employees) in the region.
This role will impact performance across multiple domains including performance feedback, performance monitoring, strategy analysis, technique and positioning analysis, data management and visualisation, innovation and technology, and performance modelling. Skills in coding languages and data visualization tools will be an advantage. Awareness of athlete and coach needs are requirements of success and rowing specific experience is desired. Candidates are expected to have a post graduate degree in sports science, engineering, or related science.
Alongside key task delivery, you will bring an analytical lens into performance conversations to contribute to objective decision making and planning. Strong working relationships, and alignment with key decision makers (coaches and the sport leadership team) is a requirement for success in this role. This will be a collaborative role operating within a sport-embedded multi-disciplinary performance support team. Therefore, the ability to work in a team setting, and build and maintain robust relationships is critical.
This current role is suited to individuals with a substantial background in provision of performance and technique analysis support to elite athletes. We are seeking individuals with discipline leading skill sets who are looking to extend themselves with the addition of formal leadership responsibility into their daily practice.
As the Senior Performance and Technique Analyst, you will work within a dispersed PTA leadership team to ensure athlete performance impact, nurture the development of individual PTA team members, and expand collective discipline capability across the HP sport system.
Note: applicants without sufficient leadership capability may be considered for a practitioner only role.
