About Archery Australia

Archery Australia (AA) is the governing body for all levels of Archery throughout Australia and a recognised member of World Archery and the Australian Sports Commission.

Archery is a sport for all, for life. AA is committed to raising the profile of archery, increasing participation, and supporting the archery community to access, enjoy, contribute and succeed across all levels of the sport.

The Archery Australia High Performance Program is a collaboration between Archery Australia, Australian Institute of Sport and State NIN partners and is focused on maximising medal outcomes at identified international events including the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

We are seeking a highly collaborative General Manager of High Performance (GMHP) to lead our HP strategy toward LA 2028 and beyond.

About the role

The GMHP will lead and oversee the strategic development, implementation, and management across all aspects of the high-performance program to achieve sustainable success for our athletes, coaches and staff.

The successful candidate will embrace the “Win Well” strategy set by the Australian sporting sector to build an inclusive and sustainable sporting system that is: Performance Driven, Athlete Focused, Exceptionally Led & Purposefully Collaborative.

Reporting to the newly appointed CEO your duties will include;

  • The GMHP will ensure the effective delivery of world-class daily training and competition environments, maintaining a culture that promotes high-performance and ensures the wellbeing of athletes and staff.
  • Accountability for Archery Australia’s High-Performance strategy and budget.
  • Leadership & management of High-Performance staff and support network.
  • Oversight & management of Archery Australia’s core programs; the National Performance Program, National Recurve Program, National Para Program and the National Compound Program.
  • Lead and monitor national teams’ performance including plans for elite, emerging, developing and podium potential athletes.
  • High level relationship management, working closely with the AIS, State & Territory Associations, Australian Olympic Committee and Paralympics Australia, to name a few.
  • Enabling a team with the highest amount of respect and integrity, wellbeing and world class standards.

  • You will have well developed business acumen and confidence in decision making to oversee the people and operations of high performance.

Position location

Ideally the successful applicant will reside in NSW or the ACT. The role will require relatively frequent interstate and overseas travel.
