Sporting Wheelies has been helping Queenslanders with a disability lead active, healthy lives and achieve their sporting dreams for more than 45 years. Our mission is to build inclusive communities that enhance the lives of people with a disability through access to advocacy, rehabilitation, health and fitness, sport, and active recreation.

About the Role

Sporting Wheelies is seeking a passionate and experienced Team Leader to join our Para Sport and Recreation team. This pivotal role will drive the growth and development of adaptive and para-sport participation across Queensland. You will oversee the delivery of sports programs, manage a dedicated team, and collaborate with key stakeholders to foster inclusion and accessibility within the sports community. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of para-sports and improve the lives of people with disabilities. Full time, fixed term (till October 2025) opportunity. Available to start on 18th Feb 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and expansion of a diverse range of sports programs for people with disabilities across Queensland.
  • Manage the implementation of new sports and activities, ensuring programs are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify and pursue new opportunities to grow sports participation in the region.
  • Provide strategic leadership and collaborate with the General Manager to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Foster relationships with national, state, and local sports organisations to enhance athlete development pathways.
  • Support the planning and execution of sport events that provide a high-quality experience for participants. 

What is needed to be successful?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or a relevant field.
  • Current NDIS Workers Screening & Blue cards or willing to apply
  • Current First Aid Certificate with CPR.
  • Available to commit to weekend work, Time in Lieu (TOIL) provided
  • Current Driver’s License and willingness to drive Association vehicles.
  • Experience in sport program coordination and delivery.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience within the Australian sporting industry, particularly in disability sport.
  • Knowledge of NDIS-funded services.
