Description

Are you passionate about Para-sport and driven to make a difference in Paralympic athlete development? Paralympics Australia (PA) and Basketball Australia (BA) are looking for a Wheelchair Basketball Classification Lead to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering BA’s classification program, ensuring compliance with international standards while promoting athlete progression and integrity.

About the Role

  • As the Wheelchair Basketball Classification Lead, you will:
  • Develop and implement BA’s classification strategy, policies, and operational plans.
  • Coordinate domestic and international classification opportunities, ensuring alignment with IWBF and IPC standards.
  • Support athletes in their preparation for International Classification.
  • Manage classification disputes and appeals, ensuring fair resolution processes.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and management of classifiers, fostering professional development.
  • Provide education on classification to athletes, coaches, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate classification data and resources, reporting in line with organisational policies.
  • Advocate for classification within BA, PA, and key organisations to enhance system efficiencies.

About You

We’re seeking someone with:

  • Leadership skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams and manage volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder communication abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to ethical and transparent practices.
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting.
  • Individuals with lived experience with disability, Wheelchair Basketball and/or classification are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Preferred background in sport management, sport science, or related fields.
  • Allied health professionals transitioning to managerial roles are also encouraged to apply.
  • Current Working with Children’s Check and completion of key sport integrity training courses.
