Australian Ice Racing is the National Body responsible for Ice Racing in Australia, including Short Track Speed Skating and Speed Skating. Its aim is to be recognised as a leading Australian Winter sport through results driven activities and programs at all levels.
The Position
Australian Ice Racing are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic National Sports Participation Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the sport’s participation strategy, programs and activities. This will involve developing, planning, organizing, and overseeing various sports participation programs and activities, including associated administrative requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of sports management, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with the AIR Board, State Associations, Government Bodies, a diverse group of participants, coaches, and volunteers.
The sports coordinator will ensure that all programs run smoothly, meet the needs of participants, and adhere to safety and regulatory standards. This position involves working closely with AIR Board and State Association members, community organizations, and external partners to promote and enhance our sports offerings. The successful candidate will have a passion for sports, a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Key responsibilities are to deliver the sports participation strategy, developed with the Australian Sports Commission, including the planned activities. This will include managing within budget, coordinating logistics, administration and evaluating program effectiveness. This role requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build strong relationships with all stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a background in sports participation management. Skills
- Strong knowledge of sport strategies, policies and practices. Such knowledge within the sport of ice racing would be preferable, but a willingness and ability to learn such is expected.

Qualifications & Education
- No formal academic requirements
- Experience or understanding of ice racing is preferable
- Background checks, including a CRB check, required for those working with children
Position details:
The National Sports Participation Coordinator is a senior position, and the right candidate will be employed on a fixed term contract. Initially this will be to 30 June 2026 but may extend based on the Grant funding cycle.
The coordinator will be a home-based, 38 hours per week work position with a requirement for interstate travel.
The salary and terms and conditions will be negotiated with the successful applicant but will be in the range of $80,000 to $100,000 per year including superannuation, depending on qualifications and experience.
