About the team – The Sport Intelligence & Analytics team leverages data to enhance athlete performance and deliver a competitive advantage to Australia’s high-performance system. The team delivers data engineering, data analytics, data science and data governance support and leads the administration of the Athlete Management System and AIS Hub digital platform for the Australian high-performance system.

About the role – We are currently seeking a Paralympic Data Analyst to support analytical projects, data infrastructure and build reporting solutions. The role will help support the implementation of analytical processes to generate insights, create value and drive evidence-informed decision making across the AIS and wider high-performance network.

In consultation and collaboration with the Senior Data Analyst, the Paralympic Data Analyst will support the activities of the analytics team to achieve team and business outcomes. These include:

  • Collect, process, cleanse and analyse data from various internal and external sources.
  • Support the identification and tracking of priority campaigns across all Paralympic, Olympic and Commonwealth Sports.
  • Provide compelling insights and data to support key high performance projects and business intelligence needs.
  • Work with front-line data users to develop and deploy solutions to optimise and/or automate existing data capture, storage, analysis, or visualisation workflows using tools and technologies that are appropriate for the skills and capabilities of the end user to take on (e.g. Excel, Snowflake, Tableau, Streamlit, Power Bi, statistical analysis techniques).
  • Actively promote and role model the AIS values of Excellence, Integrity, Respect and Teamwork, and contribute to positive organisational change, effective communication, and continuous improvement at the AIS.

About you – 

Essential:

  • Degree and/or higher qualification associated with Analytics.
  • Strong data storytelling and visualisation skills and the ability to communicate complex analytical and statistical concepts in an easy-to-understand fashion to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing data capture management or analysis solutions for others.
  • Experience of gathering user requirements for data related queries from a non-data technical audience.
  • Strong and adaptable communication skills with the ability to drive network engagement and to gain confidence and respect with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to form and contribute to cohesive, collaborative and outcome driven cross organisational project teams.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform senior management to support decision making.
  • Experience working with Tableau.
  • Experience working with Snowflake.
  • Experience working with Python.
  • Experience with online code repository platforms such as GitHub or GitLab.
  • Willing to learn new technologies and systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Jira.
  • Experience working with Zendesk.
  • Experience working with Teamworks Athlete Management Systems.
  • Affinity for and / or a keen knowledge and interest in high performance paralympic sport would be an advantage.

This position is offered as a FIXED TERM position until February 2026 with the possibility of being extended or made ongoing.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this position applicants are required to be Australian citizens only and must be able to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance.

As part of the Commonwealth Child Safety Framework the ASC is committed to being a Child Safe Organisation and leading the way in Child Safety across the sports sector. This position requires a Working with Vulnerable/Children People check to obtain employment.

Notes

  • The ASC is committed to protecting children from harm. We require all applicants that will work with children to undergo screening processes prior to appointment.
  • Should a merit pool be established for this position, it may be used to fill ongoing or fixed term opportunities as they arise within 18 months from the date advertised.
  • The ASC operates under the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989 and is separate to the Public Service Act 1999. The ASC accepts most leave liability and recognition of prior service if you are currently employed at a Commonwealth agency.
