Basketball NSW is the governing body for basketball in NSW, dedicated to uniting communities through the game we love. Our mission is to empower players, coaches, and officials at every level, ensuring basketball is accessible, exciting, and thriving across the state.
About the Role
As the Competition Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of our Metro League, Junior Premier League, and Schools Competitions. From planning schedules to managing logistics, building strong relationships with associations, and ensuring seamless competition operations, you’ll be the driving force behind some of the most exciting basketball leagues in NSW!
What You’ll Do
- Lead League Operations – Oversee the administration and smooth running of key competitions, ensuring they meet league standards and regulations.
- Manage Fixtures & Events – Plan game schedules, coordinate venues, organise finals series, and make sure everything runs like clockwork.
- Engage with Stakeholders – Build strong relationships with associations, teams, and officials, acting as the go-to person for competition-related matters.
- Utilise Technology – Keep competition platforms up to date, ensuring smooth digital operations for schedules, results, and communications.
- Drive Growth Initiatives – Support and contribute ideas to enhance basketball competitions and create exciting opportunities for players across NSW.
Who You Are
- A Sports or Events Management Wizz – You have demonstrated experience in managing competitions within sports or organising events.
- A Strong Organiser – Juggling multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and handling logistics is your superpower.
- A Clear Communicator – You can confidently liaise with teams, officials, and stakeholders to ensure everything runs smoothly.
- A Problem Solver – You thrive under pressure, think on your feet, and tackle challenges with a solutions-focused mindset.
- A Team Player – Collaboration is key, and you work well with others to achieve shared goals.
- Detail-Oriented – You ensure accuracy in competition data, scheduling, and records management.
What You’ll Need
- Experience in sports or event management (basketball knowledge is a plus!)
- A valid Working with Children Check
- A driver’s licence and full working rights in Australia
