Description

The Head of Events and Venue Operations is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and operational management of all events hosted by the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, including NRL games, community and corporate events, fan engagement activities, and special events. This role will ensure that all events are executed to the highest standards, with a focus on delivering exceptional experiences for corporate partners, members, fans and other stakeholders.

The Head of Events and Venue Operations will also oversee the day-to-day venue operations, including managing venue contractors and key stakeholders ensuring safety compliance, and implementing effective logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Management:

  • Lead and manage the planning, coordination, and execution of all home game days, community and corporate events, fan engagement activities, and special events hosted at the venue.
  • Develop and implement event strategies and timelines, ensuring alignment with team goals and expectations of sponsors, members, and fans.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless event execution and maximisation of opportunities.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors for event-related services (e.g., audio-visual, catering, security, and entertainment).

Venue Operations:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue, ensuring optimal functionality and safety for all events and activities.
  • Develop and implement operational plans and procedures for all aspects of venue management, including crowd control, traffic management, safety protocols, and emergency plans.
  • Manage venue staff and volunteers, providing guidance and support in event preparation and execution.
  • Ensure venue complies with all relevant legal, health, and safety regulations.
  • Work with governing body NRL to maintain all aspects of NRL Game Day delivery.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including sponsors, community partners, suppliers, local authorities, and government agencies.
  • Ensure the venue is optimised for both fan experience and partner activation during events.
  • Address and resolve any issues or concerns from stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Internal consultation with all departments to align delivery of commercial investment and partnerships.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage budgets for events and venue operations, ensuring efficient use of resources while maintaining high standards of execution.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost-saving without compromising the quality of events.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate the success of events and venue operations post-implementation, collecting feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in event management and venue operations to introduce innovative ideas and improvements.

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in event management, ideally within the sports, entertainment, or hospitality industries.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of building and leading successful teams.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • In-depth knowledge of venue operations, including safety regulations, crowd control, logistics, and event coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale events and collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with event management software is desirable.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by event schedules.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to take a leadership role in shaping the event and venue experience at the iconic Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. The role will involve primarily office-based work as well as weekend and out-of-hours duties. Travel maybe required.

Essential Requirements

  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
  • Experience with Local Government policies and application processes, Plans of Management, Risk and EMP Management, live site activations and broadcast production.
  • Tertiary Education in Event Management, Sports Management or relative industry studies.
