Description

The ideal candidate is a sports fan that can apply their technical knowledge to the sporting arena. You will be interested in how complex systems are used in sport, especially with respect to broadcasting / fan engagement, officiating and performance analysis. You will be able to work confidently and independently in high pressure situations where time and accuracy are important. Having pride in your work is critical, as is confidently working with others in the extended team, all while exercising a high degree of autonomy.

Main Responsibilities:

Live Event Support:

  • Coordination and management of technical operations of live events, ensuring all systems are functioning optimally.
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support during events to resolve or escalate any hardware or software issues promptly, in-accordance with SLAs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, event organizers and other technical staff to ensure smooth event delivery.
  • Ensure that all work, health and safety requirements are fulfilled.

Hardware and Software Support:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and network services.
  • Contribute to the QA process with new release of software, firmware and hardware. Networking:
  • Set up and manage network infrastructure for events, including wired and wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

System Administration:

  • Administer Linux and Windows servers, ensuring their optimal performance and security.
  • Perform regular system updates, backups, and maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation covering areas such as configuration, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Collaboration, Communication & Reporting:

  • Communicate effectively with all, including technical and non-technical groups.
  • Work closely with other teams, vendors, and stakeholders to coordinate technical requirements, solutions and process improvements.
  • Provide training and support to staff and event participants on the use of technical equipment and software.
  • Contribute to the development of detailed event plans (timelines, logistics and budgets)

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • Technology related degree (e.g. IT, computer science)
  • Strong technical trouble-shooting skills
  • Proficiency in Windows & Linux OS
  • Proficient in network set-up and management
